Ah I've been thinking about this thread lately. The last one that really got me was Finest Hours. I didn't break right down but I definitely got misty eyed!

I would have to say Trolls. Yeah, I know. But if you seen the scene in the movie i'm talking about. You'd understand.

I searched for this thread a while back.

Betsy's dream in Fargo Year Two. Not only was it beautiful in itself, but my mother died from cancer. Plus, HI's dream in Raising Arizona is one of my favorite movie endings of all time.

Have no qualms admitting I tear up during movies. Its part of human emotion.

Manchester by the sea almost got me last night. I watched My Own Private Idaho yesterday and it also almost got me.

Sorry to hear that Richard

I get emotional so easily. Often times it's because the movie makes me think about real life. I'm like Harry and Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber when the start sobbing over the phone company commercial
I even got just a little watered up while watching a couple minutes of Date Night when it was on TV. I was fine the time that I saw it in theaters but this time, the scene where Common and his partner take Steve and Tina out into the alleyway...and the guy points the gun at Tina and Steve steps in front of her, that part got me just a tiny bit

As an adult I haven't cried during a movie but I'll admit I got choked up and a little teary eyed at the end of Shawshank Redemption and Terms of Endearment (which I was very pleasantly surprised is a fantastic film. I never thought I'd watch it due to thinking it was just a wishy washy chick flick. Very glad I gave it a shot. Highly recommended).

After reading your post, I checked out Terms of Endearment on IMDb and scrolled down to the message boards and this was the first post from the first message. The title of the thread is,
"There is not one genuine moment in the entire film!!"
And this is the first post
[Show spoiler]What a total cornfest! I have never seen a more manipulative, in-your-face acting, screen-writing, or directing! All in one movie! It's like every actor, with every line, and facial expression wants to hump the bloody camera and say "LOOK AT ME, LOOK WHAT I'M DOING!" The only exception is Jack Nicholson.

I want to punch Jeff Daniels every time he rolls his eyes, punch Debra Winger every time she says ANYTHING with the most grating, annoying voice on earth.

McClane is also corny and over-done with her endless squinting of eyes: I half expect her to start twirling a goddamn moustache like a Spanish villain.

But the guy who takes the cake is John Lithgow. Holy crap, has this guy ever heard of subtlety and nuance?! It's like he's practically LICKING Debra Winger's face, and licking the camera while oogling with his giant googly eyes in every direction!

And if I see Danny Devito's unchanging sad puppy-eyes one more time, every time he's on camera, I'm going to scream!

And what's the deal with the kids? They never SMILE or do anything remotely childlike! Has the idiotic director ever seen how a child acts in his life?! LOL!

I'm just posting it because I thought it was humorous and thought you might too. I've never seen the film so I can't agree or disagree with his post. Again, I just found his rant pretty funny

Haha wow! I think it's safe to say that person really disliked it. Yeah I've read some reviews like that for it too and believe me, usually I would fall into that same category with these same kind of movies but for me everything worked perfectly. I thought the cast, acting and direction was stellar and very believable. It swept the Oscars in '83 and rightfully so IMO. Believe me, I never thought in a million years I'd ever be defending this movie but I've seen it quite a few times now and I thoroughly enjoy it every time. Check out this site's review of the movie. They completely came from where I came from with it too.

ET, Creed( The scene when Creed says he wants to prove he is not a mistake), Rocky III( Mick's death), The Green Mile( John's death), Return Of The Jedi ( Darth Vader's last words to Luke and his death), Braveheart( This is probably the biggest one for me. The music theme alone makes me teary eyed).

I always get a little choked up during Red's final parole hearing in The Shawshank Redemption, basically how he hits home that he isn't the same person he was when he was incarcerated and how he doesn't give a shit about whether or not they finally let him go.

*SPOILERS* Also the scene in Sling Blade when Karl visits his dad after being released from the mental hospital. The lines "you oughtta not have killed my little brother. He should have had a chance to grow up. He woulda had fun some time."

I never weep during movies but these two scenes are the closest that I've come to it.

I remember tearing up during the final moments of The Imitation Game when... SPOILER (unless you know the true events of history) Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) was reduced to a broken man from the punishment he received from the British government for the "crime" of homosexuality. This followed by the title cards of citing the Turing's eventual fate and the cruelty of Britain's law against gays at the time.

Yes, me too. For me it's the scene where Joy is at her lowest point (both literally and figuratively) and her situation seems most bleak.

Well it doesn't sound like a movie I would like but you never know. I like RomComs but I'm guessing this is a drama. It's funny but I feel like I would be afraid to go back and watch it because I would find it boring. What a silly thing to be afraid of

Completely forgot about Schindler's List. I know there's people who thought Liam Neeson's scene where he breaks down was overdone but I thought it was perfect along with the outstanding end credits scene which is one of the most powerful moments in film history. Also want to give honorable mention to a curiously underrated and obscure gem Matchstick Men. Choked up with both of those films.
