We were going to lose 2 of them at the end of the season. This way we got something for them. Gattis is a nice story, but he's a DH. Kimbrel is the only one I'll really miss, but it helped us dump Upton and the difference between a good closer (which we signed 2 of) and Kimbrel isn't actually that big when it comes to closing games.

Machi and Romo sure made that interesting. Good 9th from Casilla (minus that terrible pitch to Goldy).

Amazing how quickly Romo has gone from lights out and totally comfortable to very iffy and uncomfortable. I had a feeling of dread the moment he was brought in.

Bum looked good despite not being overly sharp with some of his pitches. Giants are really going to need a starter to step up, especially with the news about Cain and Peavey (although i don't think Peavey will do much of anything for the Giants this year.)

Shame about Grey. I was really pulling for a no-no on opening day.

Along with the Wrigley Field Opening Day fiasco with renovations causing there to not be enough restrooms available. 30-45 minute waits. Many peeing in beer cups. The right thing to do would be to suspend beer sales until the number of restrooms is sufficient. But that happening in Chicago... not likely.

Went to the Diamondbacks-Giants game last night. Getting in was pure hell as MLB now requires each stadium to have metal detectors. Arizona doesn't have near enough metal detectors so it led to thousands of people being stuck outside as the game started. We got to the stadium at 6:40 (traffic was terrible, we usually get there much earlier) and we didn't get into the game until 7:25 because of the massive crowd waiting to get in (the game started at 7:10).

Braves are putting a beating on the Marlins! Mat Latos made it 2/3 of an inning in his debut with the Marlins, and the Braves put up 7 in the first.

And of course Alex Wood starts by loading the bases in the bottom half.

Great. Game two and Belt is already coming out after pulling up lame. Could be a long year for the Giants with this caliber of starting pitching. I just don't see Vogey, Lincecum, Peavey or Hudson doing anything.

Hope Belt is ok, i think he's poised for a big year.

The Cubs game was rained out yesterday and there's a high likelihood that today's game gets rained out as well. I'm all for these early season Cubs postponements as it's one less game for Kris Bryant to miss since he should be called up by the time the game is rescheduled.
