Default Official 2009/2010 NBA Season Thread (Lakers Vs. Celtics Finals)

Training camp starts in a month, just figured I'd get the festivites rolling now.

Here are my early predictions on Eastern and Western seedings:

1. Magic (best record in the league)
2. Celts
3. Cavs
4. Hawks
5. Sixers
6. Heat
7. Bulls
8. Knicks

West:

1. Lakers
2. Nuggets
3. Blazers
4. Mavs
5. Spurs
6. Hornets
7. Jazz
8. OKC (Yes I believe OK City will make the playoffs...prepare to be surprised)

Eastern Conference Finals:

Magic vs. Celtics - Magic in 6.

Western Conference Finals

Lakers vs. Blazers - Lakers in 5

NBA Finals

Magic over Lakers in 7.

As much as I want to talk about the Spurs finally winning their last possible championship with the additions of Richard J and Antonio McDyss(?, spelling), and DeJuan Blair, and hate the Lakers, I think we owe it to them to lett '09 settle for a bit and at least wait until training camp. Talk about your run-ons. Also, AI hasn't even signed with anybody. If he signs with the Grizz, shoot!, forget about it.

err...thats why I pre-faced the thread by mentioning training camp is just around the corner. 09 HAS settled...they've been champions for going on 3 months now.

and I hope you were joking about AI, a known chucker, helping out a Grizzlies team with three other chuckers.

Just wondering, you would put Orlando the #1 seed?

I agree with the West predictions.

The Timberwolves picking Rubio can officially be declared a bust. They need help now, and he has agreed to stay in Spain through at least 2011. The Wolves needed to have this figured out prior to the draft, and not pick him if he wasn't going to come this year. There was no way he was going to pay that buyout to come to Minnesota. He doesn't want to live in a cold city, and especially not a small market like Minnesota. He also didn't appear too happy when they drafted another true point guard with Jonny Flynn. Maybe if they had taken Steph Curry who could play the 2 guard he would have been happier and more likely to come.

You think the Sixers are gonna finish 5th in the East. As a longtime Sixer fan, I hope so but I don't know about our PG situation with Miller gone. I like LouWill but he hasn't had to handle PG duties on a regular basis and Jrue being a rookie has me a little nervous

Why not? They're the deepest team in the league and reigning Eastern Conference Champs.

If you're right about the Eastern Conference, LeBron is 100% gone from Cleveland.

You're crazy if you think the Magic will be able to beat the Lakers, though.

The 2009 Mavs reminds me of the 2003 Mavs. Where they seemingly stocked up on every position, but in the end they had a hard time sharing the rock. The big difference with this version is that, their current players are slightly more defensive minded. But I think losing a work horse in Bass, and not being able to get Gortat hurts a little.
