The Cubs have won 12 of 13 with their 10-inning win last night over the Brewers. They're now only 1 1/2 games back of the Pirates for the first wild card. Going into the season I thought they were still a year away from contending but their rookies have really stepped up and Anthony Rizzo is playing at an MVP level.

Cubs are a fun team to watch, there gonna contend for years! Still need another pitcher before they can do some serious damage in the playoffs...

As of right now I could see a Blue Jays/Mets World Series

Of course thats IF we don't make the playoffs

Jon Lester made his first pickoff attempt to first today since April. The throw was well off line and the runner advanced to second. Lester has now made 3 pickoff attempts to first since 2013 and 2 of the throws were errors.

This is why I want/hope Arrieta starts in that wild card game if we get there. Arrieta being the best pitcher on the team doesn't hurt either. I guess I would be ok with Lester starting that game because of his experience but man he needs to at least get the situation tolerable so it looks like he doesn't have this issue.
