Same at that Yankees game, educated hecklers they were! Was fun, booked a flight to Chicago for the end of the month, aiming to get Cubs/White Sox tickets somehow, that should be fun.

Roy Halladay takes the mound tonight for the Jays against the Angels. Hopefully he finally gets his 9th win, which should have happened 2 starts ago!

I really wish the Cubs ownership situation would be resolved so they could make some moves. I was against the Cubs pursuing Peavy but it's clear that Harden can't be relied on to stay healthy. Supposedly Peavy is willing to go to the Cubs, Dodgers (unlikely they'd trade him within division), or Angels, and the Cubs could probably get him fairly cheap near the deadline, although Randy Wells has pitched very well so far so maybe they don't need Peavy.

Jeter took part in his 1,500th win today, which is a pretty crazy achievement. Obviously doing some simple math, even if you play for 15 years, being on a team that wins 100 games per year each year requires a bit of luck.

Yankees are now 16-4 in their last 20 games, which brought their record from an embarrassing 15-17 to a respectable 31-21.

They also made their first error in several weeks, ending their new MLB record streak of games without an error at 18.

Haha. I actually don't like him. Posada is the real captain of the team.

(Speaking of Posada, his error tonight is the reason the Yankees' error-less game streak ended).

Last night's Cubs game was one of the most pathetic collapses I've ever seen. Randy Wells had a no hitter through 6 2/3 and ended up with 7 innings and 1 earned run. He never should have pitched any of the 7th, and gave up a home run to the first batter he faced, then let a man on when D Lee dropped a routine throw to first for an error, but still left with a 5-1 lead. Then everything fell apart. Marmol came in and went walk, hit batter, and walk to make it 5-2. There was a sac fly that made it 5-3 going into the bottom of the 9th. Gregg got the first batter out, struck out the second but the ball got past Soto, got the third batter out, then with 2 outs Francoeur hit the game tying 2 run homer. It was a pathetic pitch by Gregg, fast ball straight down the middle, the kind of pitch you never throw to a power hitter.
Randy Wells has probably had the worst luck of any pitcher in the last month. In his 5 starts, he's gone 5 innings 0 earned runs (No Decision), 6 innings 0 earned runs (ND), 7 innings 3 earned runs (Loss), 7 innings 2 earned runs (loss), and 7 innings 1 earned run (ND). For the year he's got an ERA of 1.69 and an 0-2 record.

Rant over.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia has to have one of the longest names in MLB history. I guess Atlanta used smaller lettering on their jerseys, because his name didn't seem absurdly long. But now that he's on the Rangers, the back of his jersey looks ridiculous:

Braves get Nate McLouth! We finally get a CF who can hit. Sadly they let go of Tom Glavine. It appears to be a financial decision because he was due a roster bonus. I would have liked to see him pitch for us this year.

He makes me so mad in mlb the show when I have to play the rangers. Twice TWICE I was 3 and 5 outs away from a perfect game and this guy hit a homer and a double

Casey Jansen gives up way too many hits again last night to the Angels. he also got rocked for hits by the Red Sox last Friday when I was there but managed to win because of luck haha.

Jays are in trouble IMO now. Wells is terrible, clean up hitter with 5 homers and barely any RBIs, looked bad again last night.

The quick start was thanks to some good hitting by everyone else but Wells and Rios, Rios seems better now but far from where he should be.

The pitching is ok besdies Jansen, get him out of there and get Richmond back as a starter! Would be nice to get MacGowan, Marcum and Litsch back though. Pitching wise not bad at all... with all considered.

Vernon Wells = most overpaid player in MLB!

Can somebody remind me what Vernon Wells did to justify his paycheck? He had like 1 or 2 good years, right?

Either that or he pretended he'd sign with someone else, so the Blue Jays opened up their tiny little checkbook for him.

The contract to Vernon Wells is definitely a burden to the Blue Jays. The market readjusted downwards after he signed the deal and his bat has declined somewhat. If the Blue Jays do not resign Halladay, you can blame the Wells' contract.

He had that great 2003 and 2006 season, then signs that UNGODLY contract for 7 years with the Jays.

At the time, I remember being happy but then the 2007 annd 2008 seasons happened... low numbers... lots of injuries... and seems to be continuing in 2009... RRRRRRRRRRR!

Jays have no threat at #3 or #4 in the line up.
