The Dodgers need a genuine closer badly. Just seeing Blake Treinen struggle to close out a 3-0 9th inning against the Rays (loaded the bases, with 2 outs, before being pulled), was a clear sign that they are still without a reliable closer…

If LAD does head to head with SD in the playoffs, I hope their non-acquisition of Miller at the trade deadline doesn’t come back to bite ‘em. Their trades, IMO, do not look like a team wanting to repeat as badly as many suggest they do.

The Dodgers bullpen needs strengthening and Mason Miller would have provided that, especially in tight games and closing situations, as they try to be the first team to repeat since the Yankees threepeat 1998-2000.

Oh, how the Dodgers are struggling, especially compared to what they we’re capable in the first half.

Today’s heartbreaking loss against the Cards at home: Brock Stewart (LA’s “big” reliever acquisition at the trade deadline), Top 9th, score is 2-all. It’s his 2nd outing for the Dodgers (got a Hold in the 8th first time up). Rolls a d20… and it’s a 1. He allows 3 hits and the winning run to score in 0.2 innings of work. Dodgers come up short with the tying run on 2nd, and the winning run on 1st, with 2 outs remaining.

Glasnow, once again has a brilliant outing. 1 ER over 6 innings. But once again, no run support.

I also think it’s time to move Betts out of the top order. If he is down at 5 or 6, he can work out his batting yips there. Once he starts showing he has potential, he can return to the top.

Maybe dont pay a billion dollars in salary for a baseball team per season?

Dodgers in trouble because Mookie looks like a shell of himself and most of their pitchers are injured.

You will be saying the same about Ohtani in a few years and Mets fans will be saying that about Soto 8 years before his contract is up. Owners need to just stop giving these contracts that are double digit years in length! This is the problem a player gets older has multiple injury's that just accumulate and you are locked into them for 7 more years and getting sub standard performance for it until you just eventually have to eat the contract when they no longer can perform at a major league level.

You posted this on a day that he went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored.

Mookie finally found some form, and it was great to see the bullpen go wild when he got his first hit in 22 at bats.

And Max Muncy’s return seemed to put a spark back to the batting, 2 no-doubt HR’s that were majestic (with him on the IL they went 10-15). And Teoscar has 2 dingers as well. Oh joy! Hope this a return to form, especially at home, where they’ve struggled. Fingers crossed. Maybe we will see a series victory.

Today’s game:
Ohtani gets his 1000th hit after going 4 innings, 8 SO. 1 ER.
Wrobeskli backs it up with 3 strong innings.
Then, the Dodgers choke in the 8th, lose the rubber match. Another series loss at home.
Fu€k.

Things could be worse though. I could be a Yankees fan. WTF is going on there. Poor bastards.

Sorry Biz. Losing a no-hitter in the 9th is painful. Mike Mussina was down to the last out to secure his perfect game in ‘01 and lost it.

Congratulations to Jen Pawol for becoming the first female umpire ever to work a regular season Major League game.

Congratulations to the Brewers, who are absolutely killing it with another 10-game win streak this season. They keep going, and they should get 1st place in MLB, which will be sweet, granting home filed advantage for any finals series, including the WS.

I can’t help but notice more bad news for the money teams: Yankees, Mets, Astros and my beloved Dodgers. The latter might just lose top spot in the NL West. At this rate, Padres will take the division and either Top Wild Card spot OR Top Two (depending on what the Phillies/Mets can muster and the Brewers don’t have a catastrophic turn of form).

While Ohtani continues to blast Home Runs, the Dodgers show cracks in some of their reliable starting pitching (Yamamoto), and run production is still poor.

With the Dodgers and the other top tier salary teams, there’s that old chestnut that often ends up applying: A team filled with champions does not mean you will have a champion team.

The Brewers are going to be a real problem in the postseason if they keep playing like this.

The Dodgers are heading for a Wild Card and elimination in the first round if they keep blowing saves like they just did against the Angels (3rd straight L, 5th straight against Padres). Now they are in a tie for 1st place in the NL West (Fracking Padres).

Was a stupid move not to get a legit closer before the trade deadline. I have almost lost faith that LAD will repeat. And that faith is hanging by a thread.

Where have the Dodgers that dominated in the first half of the season gone. Oh well. Cest la vie.

I hope they do. Someone else new needs to win, let alone a 'small market' team.
