Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson are watching the game together. I'm guessing they became good friends on the set of Anger Management. I can't image how it would be to hang out with Nicholson...he's a legend. Last I heard, he was in poor health but I guess he's doing better. He has a movie coming out next year.

Kenji Johjima opted out of his contract and plans to play in Japan next year. This clearly isn't a money issue because he was due to make almost $16 million over the next 2 years and won't make near that much in Japan. This is also very good for the Mariners. Johjima was horrible this past year and they have 2 young players they preferred. I'd be curious if Johjima's agent discussed a buyout with the Mariners. I would think if he said that Johjima wouldn't opt out unless he got around a $5 million buyout the team would have paid it.

Actually, no, they took the song down off YouTube before I could make an MP3 file of it.

I wish that song was around when I was in high school, because I had a fun time harassing my friends on a daily basis during the playoffs (one was a huge A's fan, and the infamous "flip"/Jeremy Giambi's failure to slide was joked about for a long time). I had a few of those flags you hang on car windows, and would drive around with them on every window.

When it came to baseball, they were all bandwagon fans... despite growing up in NY, they were mostly Braves and A's fans. As a kid, the Yankees weren't a good team, and other than Babe Ruth, it's not like I knew much about their history. I liked them because they were from NY, and my family is mostly Mets fans, so I was rebelling.

And to think they're not even playing that well. Eric Karros joked before the game that the Angels should be worried "because they're 3 for 20 with runners in scoring position, their MVP is 1 for 10, they've made three errors... and they're the Yankees, and they're up 2-0 in the series".

I mean Teixeira is awesome and all (our defense would be shit without him) but he's not our MVP. #2 is definitely our MVP. He's been performing all season including the playoffs.

Teix has been a great addition..I know the 'Sox are biting their nails after they didn't pursue him more. As far as I can see, A-rod and Jeter are the only logical ones for MVP...they've both been hitting them out of the park.

So who is going to win tonight? I'm hoping the Dodgers make it interesting. It's not looking good. I want Torre to come back to NY!

I wouldn't say Jeter definitely is the MVP. He had one of his best years ever, and is certainly in the running, but I think Teix gets the edge over Jeter.

On it's simplest level, you win games by scoring more runs than your opponents. I think Teixeira contributed far more to Yankee runs scoring (103 runs, 122 RBIs to Jeter's 107 runs and 66 RBIs), and who knows how many runs he prevented with his glove at first. The infielders would each have more errors if it weren't for him, that's for sure.

The only way Jeter is an MVP is if you have some way to measure intangibles or something, but that's impossible. I think other people contribute far more behind the scenes/in the clubhouse than Jeter does (Damon, Swisher, Burnett, etc).
