For rule 2, I think it's fine if hitters want to work a count. It's a bit annoying when pitchers want to pitch defensively, when they have a huge lead, but I can understand that too. The times when I find it MOST acceptable is when the pitcher or hitter are people who don't play much, and can use the good workout. Baseball's a long game, deal with it. Just because some bench player has an at-bat when he's put in the game after his team takes a 15 run lead doesn't mean he should go up and swing at everything. For rule 6, I think you should help the opposing players prevent injury. If that also helps them make the play, then so be it. Anyone who sits in a dugout and watches as a catcher trips and falls on his face is an idiot. So if a catcher makes the catch, but is in the process of falling... are you really going to let him slam into the dugout floor, hoping that causes him to lose the ball (and possibly make the ruling that it wasn't a catch)? Seems stupid. The article mentioned an example from 1998, but I remember something like this happening a year or two ago, and it being talked about on all those afternoon sport shows (PTI, Around the Horn, Rome is Burning, etc). For rule 9, I always hated (and still do) when pitchers are taken out of a game, and disappear from the dugout. I know they have to go have their arm wrapped up, but that's an excuse to leave for 5 minutes, not for the rest of the game. Go get your arm wrapped up, and then go sit in the dugout with your teammates. It's not as bad as when starting pitchers hang out in the clubhouse on days when they're not pitching, but I still think it's unacceptable. |

Not yet, they still have game 4 tonight, and Dice-K is on the mound... If the Orioles knocked him around I can't see him winning against the Angels (unless it's another slugfest like game 1)...

Nooooo, you said the "S" word!! There's one more game tonight! lol, j/k. But there is a guy here at work who will take our heads off if we say "sweep" before it happens. He's so supersticious. Hell, I'd be happy with them just winning a series at this point, never mind a sweep.

I assume those questions were asked before the season, because I can't imagine many players choosing the Mariners or Red Sox to win the World Series now. Sports Illustrated had a most overrated poll in 2008 in which Jeter was named most overrated and A Rod was fourth. It really shows the hate (or some may say jealousy) opposing players have for the Yankees though, with the top 3 vote getters for overrated plus one of the players tied for fourth. Can't say I really disagree about Joba though. He's been hyped forever as the next great thing and it's never happened.
