That's what happens when your team doesn't make the playoffs in 17 years. The city played the game of going to games for many years knowing they had no chance of making the post season and the parade is finally over. Even in 2008 I think the Jays averaged close to 30,000 a game, and that was after 15 years of sucking. And of course everryone forgets but the Jays broke MLB attendance records in the early 90s before the Strike and the other BS that was introduced such as Inter-League.

The only way the fans will come back is if the Jays put a run on later in the season. We have seen the Jays do well at times in the past and it's gotten old for the fans.

PS Kevin Gregg is to thank for the Rays win last night. Unexcusable behavior. Throwing hissy fits over balls that were balls consistently(umpire did have a small strike zone). He let the Jays down. Very hard loss to swallow. In my heart I know we should have won the game anyway and still almost came back... Wells missed the home run at the end by what... 8 inches?... Go Jays!

Nice long 4-day weekend, but it's good to be back! Good comeback for the Sox last night, Victor Martinez is on a hot batting streak now.

Also, I missed Chad's daily Boston hate mail over morning coffee.

Being a Cubs fan is getting pretty frustrating. Their starting pitching has been amazing, but their offense sucks. I do this rant practically every week, but Aramis Ramirez has to be benched. We're in June now and he's hitting .162. This isn't a slump anymore, it's a player that is no longer good enough to be playing in the majors. It's time to move Fontenot or Theriot to third full time and considering buying out the remainder of Aramis' contract, which would cost around $27 million. Sadly I don't see that happening and think the Cubs aren't going to improve much in the coming years. They've made too many bad long-term deals so they won't be able to get any big free agents for years. They still owe too much money to Zambrano (back into the starting lineup tonight), Soriano, and Kosuke.

I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Ted Lilly soon. He's been decent this year and should have decent value as a free agent after the season. I could also see them putting Derrick Lee on the market. Lee has struggled this year but is in the final year of his contract and could be a good bench player or DH for a contender.

Yes, we are extremely hostile. We have also decided to become increasingly disrespectful and belligerent, mostly due to the embarassment of losing.

Seriously, though, the beginning of the season did suck for us. We lost Jacoby Ellsbury to injury, the pitching was awful top to bottom, the D was not there...and the Sox immediately fell in the standings like a stone.

But thing have picked up throughout May. Pitching ERAs are coming down. The Defense is very good now. Ortiz started to hit. And offense is better than could be expected.

Even after the terrible start, the Sox are just down 5.0 games (and I think only 2.5 back from your Yanks). Suffice it to say that, collectively, we are probably okay. lol

Haha. I've heard mixed things though. Some people say Yankee fans treat Red Sox fans worse, and some say it's the other way around.

Going to games at Yankee Stadium, I never saw much beyond incessant heckling, so if that's more hostile, I imagine Red Sox fans must give backrubs to Yankee fans at Fenway.

So I'm more inclined to think Boston has the more hostile fans, or that it all comes down to a couple of crazy people, and whether you run into them or not.

The Braves are starting to look like real contenders in the National League. Tim Hudson is back to being an elite pitcher. If Chipper Jones ever gets back to being close to his usual self, they are going to win the division.

That Ryan Howard contract is looking less and less justifiable for the Phillies. He will be horribly overpaid for many years.

The Jays loss to the Rays last night was the worst of the season so far. Definitely the most upset I've been at a baseball game in a while. It's so frustrating when a pitcher gives the game away with walks and doesn't even make the other team earn it. The Jays bullpen is a steaming pile of crap vs. the Rays this year.

I've seen a couple fistfights over the years between Yankee and Red Sox fans just at my local sports bar. And this is in Florida. I can only imagine what it's like at Yankee Stadium or Fenway.

This. I went to the home opener which was Tallet starting, Frasor choking. Could have gone last night and umm... it was more of a team effort from Frasor and Gregg...

As a Cubs fan I was expecting a performance like that from Kevin Gregg. I saw plenty of those performances last year, just like Marlins fans did in 2008. I wonder if there's a pitcher with more blown saves since 2008 than Gregg's 19.

Oh wow, didn't know it was an early game till I just checked. The Phillies offense was a no show AGAIN scoring just 1 run.

Hmm... wonder what Howard's batting average is since he got his massive contract extension. Seems like the second he signed the new deal his numbers nosedived.

Neil Walker got his first home run of his career last night!

It also happened to be a 2 run homer, in the bottom of the eight inning with the Pirates down one run to the Cubs. You can't hit a homer in a better spot than that.

Buccos face off against the Cubs again tonight at 7:05 Est. The Bucs have won 7/8 matchups against Chicago this season, and is looking for a sweep at PNC Park tonight.

Just opened up a cold one, sat down in my chair, turned on the Pirates broadcast ready for a great Wednesday night baseball game....30-45 minute rain delay. There is a massive blob of red heading towards Pittsburgh on the radar, so much for baseball tonight.
