i doubt it happens anytime soon... it could be 15-20 years.. but i do see Bonds getting in...

Soriano Open To Setting Up For Yankees

The best closer on the free agent market is open to being a setup man. Agent Scott Boras told Andrew Marchand of ESPNNewYork.com that Rafael Soriano would consider signing with the Yankees even though it would mean setting up for closer Mariano Rivera.

"I don't think there is a team in baseball where he could be asked to be a setup guy other than the Yankees," Boras said.

Boras said the “door is open” with the Bronx Bombers, but Yankees GM Brian Cashman declined to comment on his team’s level of interest. Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the sides are in contact (Twitter link).

A player is only eligible for 15 years. I seriously doubt any of these guys will be voted in during that time frame. My best guess is these roid players like Clemens, Bonds and McGwire will make the HOF decades from now (when they might be deceased) by the Old Timer's Committee.

Thing is the Yankees can afford to waste that kind of money. For the Giants that' a lot of money that could have gone to signing better players or re-signing their other aces.

The Cubs are reportedly near a deal with the Rays for starting pitcher Matt Garza. The Cubs will reportedly give up right-handed pitcher Chris Archer, outfielder Brandon Guyer, catcher Robinson Chirinos, shortstop Hak-Ju Lee and outfielder Sam Fuld and would also receive a minor-league pitcher and outfielder from the Rays. Archer is one of the Cubs top pitching prospects and was their minor league pitcher of the year, and Guyer was their minor league player of the year. Garza is arbitration eligible for the next 3 years.
