Puckett was a great player, but certainly wasn't a great person. Puckett had multiple affairs when he was married. He abused his wife, threatened to kill her, and once put a cocked gun to her head while she was holding their daughter. The Twins were forced to settle a sexual harassment claim against Puckett when he worked for the team after he retired. He was prosecuted for felony sexual assault after allegedly pulling a woman into a bathroom and trying to rape her, and while he was found not guilty there were numerous witnesses that said they saw him force the woman into the bathroom. While Puckett did a lot of charity work, according to one of his mistresses it was all to maintain his appearance and he didn't actually care about any of the causes he supported. Below is a Sports Illustrated story that pretty much killed Puckett's public image.

The Marlins have reportedly hired 80-year old Jack McKeon as their interim manager. McKeon was the interim manager for the Marlins in 2003 when they won the World Series and has been working for the team as a consultant. The Marlins have gone 1-18 this month and first-year manager Edwin Rodriguez resigned yesterday.

I love it. Selig just gave another big middle-finger to McCourt. In that last paragraph he outright said Frank McCourt would just steal the TV deal money for his personal benefit.

http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angele...ory?id=6682302

Quote:
MLB rejects Dodgers' TV deal

Just days after Frank and Jamie McCourt agreed on a divorce settlement, Major League Baseball rejected a proposed television contract for the Los Angeles Dodgers that was a lynchpin of the deal.

The TV deal has been reported to be worth $3 billion and Frank McCourt would receive $385 million upfront. That money was critical to the financial health of the Dodgers. MLB's action nullifies the divorce settlement, sending the McCourts back to the drawing table and thrusts the Dodgers into limbo.

MLB issued a statement explaining the decision.

"This decision was reached after a full and careful consideration of the terms of the proposed transaction and the club's current circumstances," commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement. "It is my conclusion that this proposed transaction with FOX would not be in the best interests of the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise, the game of Baseball and the millions of loyal fans of this historic club."

MLB had taken control of the troubled franchise and was investigating the team's finances. Selig said he would not make a decision on the TV deal until that process was complete. But Selig indicated in Monday's statement that the terms of the divorce settlement in which a large chunk of the Fox up-front money would not go to the Dodgers led to his decision.

"Critically, the transaction is structured to facilitate the further diversion of Dodgers assets for the personal needs of Mr. McCourt," Selig said. "Given the magnitude of the transaction, such a diversion of assets would have the effect of mortgaging the future of the franchise to the long-term detriment of the club and its fans."

McCourt is one piece of work. This idiot was on every news channel and radio show in LA after MLB took over a couple months ago promising all the fans that he would not use ANY of FOX's new contract for his personal debts. And low and behold look what his settlement with his trampy wife entails! He's the biggest lying, hollywood wannabe pos ever.

So apparently Tim Hudson can beat the Blue Jays all by himself... he gave up one hit through 8 innings (+a hit in the ninth) and produced the game's only scoring on a 2-out, 2-run homer. He was unable to close out the game in the 9th, though, and Kimbrel struck out the side to earn his 20th save of the season.

Twins up 8-0 in the top of the 1st. The first eight batters have scored! The Giants pitcher didn't even make it to the the 2nd inning.

I really hope you aren't trying to imply that it's shocking MLB would have a net .500 average... It kinda has to be .500 unless MLB isn't keeping their stats correctly.

Braves are still playing really well. Their pitching has been outstanding this season, with the 2nd best team ERA in MLB slightly behind Philly. The offense is still pretty bad though. They need to do something with Uggla soon. I really like that signing pre-season but he's been terrible with a .176 avg in 75 games and showing no signs of improvement.

I have a question.

Lets say the Starting pitcher is doing really good. The Manager takes him out in the 6th-7th inning. Brings in a LR or MR. But that pitcher gives up a few runs(aka ends up losing the game for your team). Who do you blame more?

Pitcher that gave up the runs or the Manager? Or are they 50/50 at fault?

More often than not I'd blame the reliever. As far as blaming the manager goes it depends on the situation. If the manager pulled a starter who was pitching great and didn't have a high pitch count I'd partially blame the manager too since the move was unnecessary. If the starter had 110+ pitches then I wouldn't blame the manager for pulling the pitcher. There are so many possible situations it's hard to make any broad generalizations.

How about this..

If a manager keeps bringing in the same pitcher(every night). Even though he knows 90% of the time. the pitcher has alot of trouble getting outs.

Personally, I still think the blame goes on the pitcher. Even though the manager is stupid for bringing in that guy over and over again.

Would I be wrong thinking that?
