Uggla's hitless today so far, he'll have at least one more at bat and possible two if the Braves string some hits together.

Hopefully he can steal a hit at his next at bat. I'd like to see his hit streak continue.

Did you see the diving catch the 2B made (running toward the outfield) to rob him of a hit in his third at-bat?

Uggla will only get one more at-bat unless this game goes to extra innings, I think. 4-4 heading to the 7th. Braves bullpen just choked up 4 runs in the 6th. I think they've been resting their shutdown relievers like Venters and Kimbrel lately and letting all the other no-name schmucks blow the leads the starting pitchers have generated.

EDIT: Wow, today's game and yesterday's game between the Cubs and the Braves have been FILLED with errors, dropped catches, wild pitches, and unearned runs. The Cubs' fourth error today allows the Braves to snatch back the lead, 5-4. The Braves have stolen like four or five bases today (not counting extensions on throwing errors).

It's always sad to see streaks end.

56 truly is unotuchable. Not even Gretzky had a point scoring streak that long (51 games).

Did anyone see Jason Marquis crumple in a heap along with the batter he plunked on the same pitch? Marquis broke his fibula.

Yeah, I really feel that batting 400 for a season and the 56 game hitting streak will be the two baseball records that will most likely be never be broken.

That would be my #1 unbreakable record. Matt Kemp has the longest current consecutive games streak at 323 games. Kemp would have to play over 14 more seasons without missing a game to catch Ripken. That just doesn't happen in today's game even though players have it easier now with better traveling conditions, medical treatments, and fewer doubleheaders.

Big 4 game series with the Giants vs Braves coming up, we really cant afford to lose many games as the D-backs just keep winning....

There are plenty of other unbreakable records.

No player is going to come close to the triples records.
Triples in a season - Chief Wilson - 36
Triples in a career - Sam Crawford - 309

Batting Avg in a season - Hugh Duffy - .440
Career wins for a pitcher - Cy Young - 511
Career Stolen Bases - Rickey Henderson - 1406

Cy Young's 511 wins. Hell, we'll be lucky to see another 300-game winner in today's highly specialized game.

Just like the Braves gave away the last two games against the Cubs with a bunch of errors and sloppy play, they're trying to lose again tonight. The Braves have stranded like 6 or 7 runners in 5 innings, and they gave up two runs without the Giants' notching a hit in the frame (e.g., Gold Glove CF let a line drive smack him in the face). There's been a lot of booing in Turney Field lately because the Braves are playing like a sorry bunch of losers.

The single-season wins record for a pitcher is something like 41 games. No pitchers even get that many starts anymore. There's no chance in hell that record ever gets broken.

The Rookie > The Beard

The Braves stranded runners in scoring position all night long but got the clutch hit they needed on a 3-2 count with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth. Honestly, I wouldn't have walked McCann to put the winning run in scoring position.

Yes, big Thome is now a member of the 600 club. We also traded Delmon Young to the Tigers who went yard on us his first at bat.

That's got to sting. Well, we're tied for 1st again with tonight's win against the Bo Sox.

I haven't noticed until now but we're creeping up on yous guys. Yanks and BoSox are only 4 games ahead in the win column. Most all of our guys are hitting the ball pretty well. Nelly just hit a 2-run blast btw. I just wish Beltre would hurry up and get back so he can get through his initial "getting back" slump.
