Four days ago the Tigers GM said Prince Fielder would not be a good fit for Detroit. Now they're giving him 9 years at about $24 mill/year? What changed in 4 days? That's very nearly Pujols type of cash.

I wonder if part of it isn't personal. It's no secret Prince hates his old man and would probably love to accomplish more with Detroit that his dad.

Scott Boras is a wizard. He somehow always finds a team to overpay his clients. There's no way Fielder keeps playing even decent in 5 years when he inevitably balloons up to 325 pounds. The Tigers are going to regret this deal.

And in other news, the Tigers have announced that they will no longer offer an all-you-can-eat buffet before and after games for fear that they couldn't afford it.

In all honesty, if they get a good performance from a third starter, they could win 100 games.
