Angels are stupid, they don't need more offense, they need pitching, although a middle lineup consisting of Trout/Pujols/Hamilton omg

I'm a little surprised he got 5 years, but I knew he'd get more than the 3 years the Rangers were willing to offer. That's going to be a very good offense with Hamilton, Trout, Trumbo, Kendrys Morales, Howie Kendricks, and Pujols.

I can't really fault the guy when the Rangers were offering $80 million and the Angels gave him $125 million. He wanted to stay in Texas, but that's too much money to leave on the table.

The Rangers did everything possible to drive Josh's free agent contract down in price. All their signals seemed to indicate they didn't want him back. Apparently Daniels thought Hamilton would give them a chance to match whatever contract offer he received, but honestly the Angels are now in a better position to win than the Rangers for the next few years. It looks like Josh took some of the backbiting personally from Nolan Ryan and others on the team.

The Angels now have three of the five best hitters in baseball, in the same lineup.

If anyone is to blame here it's the Rangers for being cheap and not giving Hamilton what he deserves... like fate said, can't blame Hamilton here

You really can't blame him. Not only that but Ryan heavily criticized him going into the offseason of his contract year. Not exactly a great way to entice your best player to re-sign. On paper it looks good, but you still got to go out and play. Tell that to all the Yankee teams from 2003-2008.

As an example, Rays fans can't really be pissed that CC signed with the Red Sox for an ungodly amount. They were never going to come even close to that amount and the Red Sox signed him to way more than any other team was going to offer. It sucks, but only one to blame is the front office.

I can't blame Hamilton for taking the money, but he's far too much of a head-case to deserve 5 years.

I won't say this will bite them as bad as the Pujols deal will, but it has the potential to go off a cliff.

I certainly won't blame the rangers for not overpaying.

I'd blame the lack of a salary cap and the fact that all it takes is one moron to overpay.

How many times has he slipped up since bouncing back? 3? I think its pretty good for someone whose been down the road he has.

I'd worry about injury anyway

Still isn't worth that contract (although I'd rather have him than Jason Werth)

I would gladly take 30 HRs and 100+ RBIs. Especially when you consider how dreadful his first couple months were. He was also a 300 hitter in the second half.

Anybody that really views Pujols as a disappointment wrote him off after a month and a half.

3 slips up off the field and at least half a dozen...just...weird crap on the field, from the fact that his "blue eyes" made him hit worse in the sun, to the fact that caffeine overdose sidelined him for 5 games.

He's only guaranteed 120 days a year even if not injured, and some spurts of that he's not going to try and will be bad.

If Hamilton had been even remotely consistent last season I'd be sad to see him leave, but with how low his lows were on both offense and defense I'd rather see someone good rather than "great" replace him than overpay for lackluster performance.

No Athlete is worth the contract these guys are getting kinda sad Detroit didn't go after him for left field for that price tho.

No, people who view Pujols as a bad deal are saying that 8 years from now he won't be worth anywhere near the money he is going to be paid.

Hell, 3 years from now it'll be dubious. In 8 years it's almost a certainty to be a terrible deal.
