Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke suffered a broken collarbone in the scrap. The injury will require surgery and keep Greinke on the shelf for eight weeks. Greinke hit Quentin with a pitch before the latter charged the mound. Greinke is not expected to be suspended, according to Miller.

Quentin, 30, is 4 for 18 (.222) with three doubles through eight games this season. He could appeal the suspension and continue to play in the meantime. CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman argued that Quentin deserved a 15-game suspension.

Greinke is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA in two starts this season. Los Angeles signed him to a six-year contract worth $147 million this offseason.

Jerry Hairston Jr. was suspended one game, reports Miller. He charged the Padres' dugout after the initial brawl. Matt Kemp has not yet been disciplined, but MLB is still looking at him and it could result in a suspension or fine.

What else would you have them do? That's more than I thought he would get. I was figuring a 6 game ban followed by an appeal that brought it down to 5 games. You have to treat it like any other fight regardless if the pitcher was injured in the melee.

They're calling it a sprain for now, but he's gone for an MRI. He's hitting .395 and has been a wizard at short (living up to the hype and he's loving the city). Remember last year when 4 of our 5 starters missed more than half their starts and "Joey Bats" and Lawrie missed most of the year.

He should be suspended for as long as Greinke is out. He is a classless thug for his behavior last night.

Had Greinke not been hurt it's probably a 3 or 4 game suspension tops. Simply charging the pitcher and elbowing him doesn't justify more than the 8 game suspension he received. It was Greinke's own poor judgment to just stand there and lower his shoulder against a much larger guy that caused the injury. If he steps aside instead of standing there chances are a few haymakers are thrown but nobody gets hurt. I was thinking it would be 5 or 6 games, but I can see 8. Anything more is overkill. Selig doesn't have the power Goodell has.

Supposedly Reyes is expected to be out 1-3 months. Not good.
