And Cox won 4/10 in the 00s because the teams weren't talented. The Braves were picked to finish 1st one year in the 00s.

Francona never was whiffed at as MOY in the 2000s from any organization. You also have to take into account that Francona won just 1 more WS than Torre did. Torre won 2 more than Cox in the 90's and he managed the 1998 Yankees. Francona never had a team that had as much success as that 1998 team. Also 3/3 > 1/5 which is better than 2/2> 1/3....

Postseason success coupled with regular season performance needs to be balanced, but naturally postseason performance should be weighed more heavily because winning is everything...

The Braves are planning on building a new stadium in Cobb County and moving for the start of the 2017 season. The Braves current stadium, Turner Field, isn't a very old stadium as the Braves started playing there in 1997 (it was built for the 1996 Olympics then converted to a baseball stadium) but they only have a 20-year lease and Cobb County is offering public financing for a new stadium. It's unknown at this time how much the stadium will cost and how much will be paid by the county and how much will be paid by the team.

Seriously came out of nowhere. Cost is $672 million. But it's now closer to my parent's house (it's actually where I would meet my dad if I were at home and meeting him after work for a game). It's also about 4 miles from my high school. Huge win for the county too. Braves have been in Fulton since their move to Atlanta (it is technically in an area still classified by the postal service as Atlanta). It's also a significantly safer area, though it could make going to the mall around game time very treacherous; that area is already very busy.

From what I just read Cobb county taxpayers are getting screwed hard on this new ballpark. They'll be footing $450 mill of the project with no public debate on the matter.Apparently a new ballpark is more important than the school and public works funding that's been gutted.

If there's no vote, it's likely the same as the Falcons deal in Atlanta, and it will be handled through increased hotel/motel taxes.

1997. They're not moving because of the stadium (though they claim renovations there will cost around the same as their total investment in the new stadium). The new stadium is in a bad location with no public transit and the city has refused to consider it. The new location is in a good area with no current public transit, though it has been debated for years.

Deadspin has a cool chart that shows the distance teams have relocated to and from their city center too new stadiums historically. Almost always teams move closer to the city center. However this proposed Braves move would be 11 miles further from the center of Atlanta. No team has ever moved further from the center of their city before.

Ugg... better not be Waffle House Stadium. I don;t want the stadium named after the shittiest restaurant in existence. I doubt it's Chik-fil-A either given how controversial (crazy right-wing owners) that company is.

I doubt Waffle House. I think Chick-fil-A may put in a bid for the football stadium with all the college football stuff they do.

I don't know if the NFL or MLB would allow Chick-fil-A to be attached to their product. Like Chad has said, they have ruffled some feathers in recent years.

I think you know the answer to that one. Most people are very much against changing the name of the Redskins. While I'd say at least have the nation isn't very fond of Chick-fil-A's ownership, and their stance on a certain political issue. I'm taking a stand either way on Chick-fil-A. I'm just saying they are a very controversial restaurant chain right now.

And I would disagree on the "most people are very much against changing the name of the Redskins". At best, it's probably 30/10/30/20/20 between very much against changing, against changing, don't care, for changing, very much for changing.

In my mind, it goes back to the same issue with the Dolphins and Incognito. Even if the black players on the team say he can use the slur, does that mean he should?

The black players on the team is a small subset of the entire black population i.e. a team of 53 players (less than that because they are not all black). When talking about the Redskins, we are referring to the population of the whole.

A slur is a slur. Technically, it could be considered more offensive. It's being made in general to all Indians, where as Incognito is directing it at particular people.
