Yes but the term that Incognito used is widely acknowledged to be offensive to a majority of that population. Whereas there have been numerous polls that suggest that the Redskins name for a team is not deemed offensive by a majority of that population

Here's how Cobb County will finance the new (mostly taxpayer funded) ballpark for the Braves. These figures are taxes per year for the next 30 years. The first four largely won't be directly from Cobb County residents, but that last one of $8.67 mill a year will. It comes from existing funding that otherwise might have gone to things, such as education funding which was seriously cut in recent years.

$400,000 from a new rental car tax.
$940,000 from the existing hotel/motel tax.
$2,740,000 from a new hotel/motel fee in the Cumberland CID.
$5,150,000 from a property tax increase in the CID.

But the GOP leadership there would have never put that tax money towards education. They're the same ones that cut it in the first place.

It also ignores increased revenues from the new traffic moving through the area and spending money at the stadium and surrounding shops and restaurants.

Yup. Cobb County is where I lived my entire life outside of college before I moved out here to KC. Education was always very good when I was coming up in the area, but it has always been a GOP stronghold, and the Tea Baggers have only gotten worse. Newt Gingrich represented the area when he was Speaker of the House.

Georgia as a whole is changing rather quickly due to demographics. Give it a decade or so and it'll be a very competitive state politically. Like Florida it's (thankfully) becoming more modern and less conservative every day.

It's only because the metro Atlanta area is growing so much faster than the rest of the state. I believe most of the "metro" is fairly liberal, but Cobb County has always been very conservative (though previously they've cared very much about education, but a lot of that started changing about 10 years ago during some very bitter fights for spots on the Board of Education) and Paulding County is probably home to more country music stars anywhere not named Nashville.

Being "conservative" isn't necessarily not modern, but the Tea Party has a late 1800s view.

Taking it another step further and adding 2013 Cy Young winner Max Scherzer, the Tigers have done something never done before with five winners of MVP and Cy Young awards over a three-year span.
