Giants originated from NY. Perhaps he's a generational NY Giants --> SF Giants fan. I knew a couple of them in NY. Maybe he liked the Sabres more than the Rangers, Isles, or Devils. My wife's uncle is a Rangers fan despite being from NJ. The Niners on the other hand have absolutely no ties to NY.

Because most pitchers aren't comfortable doing things they've never done before. At best, he'd got 4 innings if he started.

He's a strong, young guy. I have no doubt he can go more than 3 innings. I think starting Hudson is a big mistake.
