One reason is because a good deal of pitchers are doctoring up the balls. MLB seems to be almost turning a blind eye to it for some reason, i guess they have given up on trying to police it.

I've seen that replay a couple of times now, everything that could have gone wrong or been played wrong - went wrong. It's even more egregious that that play was with two outs.

Also, Shohei Ohtani missed his start today because of Bay Area traffic. I haven't heard of that one in a while. He went past his usual warm up time and it messed with his routine.

Ohtani is like a high-end Italian sports car; he'll be in the repair shop for a while but when he runs he's a supreme machine.

Analytics are mostly (if not all) to blame. It has teams swinging for the fences. It doesn't care about batting average. It frowns upon stealing bases and situational hitting. Don't even get me started about not bunting. It's basically has people who haven't played baseball past Little League (maybe HS) telling MLB teams how to play the game. Basically reinventing the wheel. I've been saying this for some time that analytics has ruined MLB.

This is a large part of the reason why the Yankees offense is in a rut. You take the HR away from them, they become a lame duck offense.

Looks like Baseball can no longer hide that a large majority of major league pitchers have been cheating! Better yet, how about the money these players are essentially stealing from clubs who signed them! Thinking they are getting something they clearly are not, without their spidertack or whatever the heck else they goop the balls up with.

Left unsaid in the sticky pitching substance issue arising in MLB, all teams now are constructed with hordes of sub-par relievers replacing starting pitching.

Remove the sticky substances and many of those relievers aren't good enough to pitch in the big leagues. There are only so many arms in the world that can get MLB hitters out on a regular basis. It's going to be a pitching supply crisis if teams continue trotting out Joe Blow relievers by the bushel every night.

This pitcher and teammate of Mickey Mantle I’m referring to is not really that famous, but he did win the Cy Young award decades ago and has a cool nickname. I’ll try to hunt up the article I’m thinking of by next Father’s Day if only in memory to my Dad who was allowed in the Yankees locker room and got the autograph back in the day.

Been a Yankees fan all of my life thanks to my late father who was present (still have the ticket) at Don Larsen's perfect game in the '56 World Series.

MLB did a write up of the Brewers 2003 sausage race incident. I remember this being quite a thing not only in the sports media but on morning news too.

The article goes into how the narrative ran away in the press, and how the woman who was hit had to have a conversation with the district attorney and police had to take a photo of her bruised pinky finger.

In Boston it would only mean the local sports night show and the Celtics b-ball would be in trouble as all games are on the nbc sports station. Most major market teams like the Red Sox and Yanks have their own networks for this reason and will be untouched by this.
