I don't really want to try to guess, because then I fear I might jinx the team.

So I'll jokingly call a 4-game sweep.

For what it's worth, the Yankees lost 2 out of 3 against the Phillies at Yankee Stadium this year (lost 7-3, won 5-4, lost 4-3). The first game was a crappy outing by Burnett, the second game involved scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, and the third game was an extra inning loss, so who knows what to make of that series.

Well someone will need to step up. If CC keeps pitching the way he's been pitching (1.13 ERA in the ALCS, 1.19 overall in the playoffs), then they can count on him for potentially 3 wins. If that's the case, someone just needs to step up for the other, be it Burnett or Pettitte or whoever.

But in any case, the Yankees still have another game to win before it's worth talking about the World Series.

Yeah, I hate that. Regardless of how long these series last, the World Series dates are set in stone. So if the Yankees lock up the series tomorrow, and the Phillies end this one tonight (which seems likely), we'll still have to wait a week for the next game.

It's all because of stupid TV contracts. Same thing obviously happened last week, with all the ALDS sweeps, we still had to wait around for the championship series to start.

Yeah it takes the edge off a bit, but it should be good consider CC's had 3 days rest.

There was no chance they'd lose 4 straight 5 years ago. And look what happened. There's plenty of time to count the chickens later, just wait until they hatch.

Damn Phillies advanced to the WS again. I'm a little pissed about that. Can't wait for the Marlins to improve a little more, so they can prevent the Phillies from making it to the playoffs in the coming years.

Or the Braves to have some sort of revival. Or the Mets to figure out how to spend money properly. Plenty of potential in that division... basically everyone but the Nats, who will probably be terrible until they gets new owners.

Yes, those are all potential future nuisances to the Phillies cause, but I being a Marlins fan hope for a better fishing expedition in the next few pennant races.

I was cheering for the Marlins in '03, because I was a Pudge fan. But then when they actually made the World Series, it was rough.

I sometimes consider them my second favorite team, but then realize I can't really have 2 favorites (I just liked the idea of following a team from their inception... which is the only reason why I like the Ducks in the NHL, and consider the Panthers my "other" favorite NFL team).
