Looking at the All-Star voting numbers, baseball needs to start counting votes in home parks as 0.5 a vote. The Cardinals and Giants fans have lots of non-All-Stars getting some pretty big numbers.

Right now here are the Giants/Cardinals ranks and some other big names at the same positions. Every single regular Giants and Cardinals player is in the top 5 (15 for OF).

C: Posey 1, Molina 2
No issue here.

1B: Allen Craig 3, Brandon Belt 4
Craig is having a really good year, but Belt? He's 70K or so ahead of Freddie Freeman who's having a much better year, even with a DL stint.

2B: Marco Scutaro 2, Matt Carpenter 3
2B is shallow, and both are having solid years, so no complaints.

3B: Pablo Sandoval 1, David Freese 3
The fact that Kung Fu Fatso is beating David Wright is just unbelievable. Sure, Fatty is an All-Star, but Wright is putting up the better numbers.

SS: Brandon Crawford 2, Pete Kozma 4
Crawford isn't having a bad year and Kozma is alright and may be indicative of a weak position, but Segura is 3 right now. And with Tulo out, Crawford would be a starter

OF: Beltran 1, Matt Holliday 6, Pence 8, Pagan 10, Gregor Blanco 12, Jon Jay 13
Meanwhile Carlos Gomez is 11 (between Pagan and Blanco? Ugh), Dominic Brown is 14. Only the Brewers (Gomez at 11 and Braun at 4) and the Braves (Justin Upton at 2 and BJ Upton at 15, which I'm sure is people confusing the two) have 2 among the top 15.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, ATL is the last team this season to use only 5 starting pitchers (GM #71). DET used SP #6 in GM #61.

Alex Wood is the 6th, but only because it's a DH in the middle of 10 consecutive days of games.

The city of San Jose is suing MLB over their refusal to let owners vote on letting the A's move to San Jose:

Major League Baseball is dragging its feet on having team owners vote on the Oakland Athletics' proposed move to a new ballpark 40 miles south in San Jose, San Jose city officials said in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

The lawsuit -- filed in federal court in San Jose -- is disputing MLB's exemption to federal antitrust law, which MLB has used as a "guise" to control the location of teams, according to the suit.

"It's time for someone to take on this supposed baseball exemption from antitrust laws," said attorney Phil Gregory of Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, the law firm representing the city. "The City of San Jose is a perfect candidate to make that challenge."

The San Francisco Giants have objected to the A's potential move on grounds they relied on territorial rights to the San Jose-area market when they built their ballpark, AT&T Park.

The A's say those rights were only meant to support the Giants' failed efforts in the early 1990s to build a San Jose-area ballpark themselves.
