If Beachy pitches half as well as last year, I'll take him as a #1. Minor, Medlan, Beachy and Teheran would be the second best foursome in the NL playoff race.

The trade of Alfonso Soriano from the Cubs to the Yankees is complete:

The Yankees, according to a club official involved in the trade talks who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the deal is not finalized, will send a Class A pitching prospect to Chicago for Soriano. The Cubs, in exchange, have agreed to pay the bulk of Soriano's $18 million salary in 2014.

As a Cubs fan I don't love the deal because Soriano was playing decent and is supposedly a good clubhouse guy. I understand though that the Cubs don't have a chance of being relevant again until 2015 and this gives them a chance to give some younger guys a shot at playing everyday.

Yeah. Both games have been pretty tight. I'm just glad to see the Braves stepping up against some of the top teams.

But it's a really rough road trip for the Cards. Braves, Pirates and Reds.

I wish I could say he was nice while Rocker was mean, but Rocker was really nice to me as well the few times I met him. But he was a jackass on the field at times, which Kimbrel never has been.
