I didn't get a chance to see it live since I was at work, but just watched the video on the Ranger's site... that was a perfect pitch as you can see in the k-zone replay.

I don't blame Pierzynski at all for arguing enough to be thrown out. Whith Yu having a perfect game going even if it wasn't a strike, that close a pitch he should have gotten the call either way.

Seriously? That was classic borderline on a perfect strikezone. It's a 50/50 pitch.

Looking for a fight? There's not an umpire alive that will let you stay in the game if you jump up on him like that on the ball 4 call, especially when you consider AJ was definitely giving him some lip after the 2-2 call.

Sure. Because it was a strike. But it's close. Certainly not a terrible call. I wouldn't even classify it as a bad one.

That's the thing. We're lucky the 'stros are in our division. Every time Yu pitches against them, it's a very possible no-no/perfect game. He'll get it eventually. I can't remember a dude throwing SO's like Yu does with regularity. C'mon postseason!!!

I assume you mean shut outs.... which he's never had one.... If you mean Ks, you should go watch some Randy Johnson (or Craig Kimbrel).

AJ stood up and said one comment then turned and walked away.

The Umpire FOLLOWED HIM. Said something. Then threw him out when he responded.

That's the Umpire "looking for a fight".

I don't care if "There's not an umpire alive that will let you stay in the game" in that situation. If that's true, fire all umpires.

Seriously. Get rid of the umpire's power to throw out players. Implement a league punishment system similar to what's in all other sports.

Get these jackasses off their high horses. I'd rather umpires go away entirely than continue to make them game about them instead of the players. Especially in baseball umpires aren't even needed. There is no call that can not be better made by computer or an off-the-field umpire watching from a booth.

*EDIT* Heh, I just saw Baseball Tonight's two minute spiel about what this Umpire did wrong, and how he can improve in the future. Guess not everyone agrees with Sycro that this umpire didn't do anything wrong.

I nearly called this the day before when I was talking with a friend that is a Rangers fan. I told her that he may throw a no-hitter and get 20+ strikeouts.

We need to finish the season on a 45 game winning streak to avoid a losing record.

Interesting stat for this year that I gets broken after our next game with the A's: We have 6 separate 6 game losing streaks this year but have never lost 7 in a row.
