lol. Payroll means nothing. There's more to sports than the amount of money being spent. If you actually understood sports, you would know this. When's the last time the Rangers won the World Series?

The abbreviation "K" is an abbreviation popularized by ESPN. MLB.com, which I would much rather support with visits than ESPN's site still lists the abbreviation for strike-outs as "SO".

Really, so you're telling me money had nothing to do with Clemens, Arod, Jeter, Bernie Williams, Posada, And Rivera staying/coming to/with the Yankees? Because if it weren't for the money, you guys wouldn't have any of them on your team therefore Jeters hand would be empty in the picture.

Please, all the Yankees do is buy their championships. When's the last time they earned one like the Cards or the Giants? Rangers made it to the Ship two years in a row with a salary of about 50 million to the Yankees 200 million

Before Steinbrenner , in the 50's, 60's and 70's.

How many of those appearances resulted in a World Series win? Win something and then talk some trash.

What I'm saying is that there is more to winning World Series than just the amount of money you throw at a franchise. Case in point is the current Angels, last years Red Sox, previous Cubs teams, etc. Winning is winning no matter how you do it. Yankees spent money properly and had great team chemistry. This is why they won multiple championships. To say that they bought World Series in the late 1990's and early 2000's is quite disingenuous. They had a lot of homegrown talent mingled with free agents.

People crying about money discrepancy just have penis envy over another franchise that can outspend them. But money spent is not everything.

No considering the Yankees/Mets have a market no one else can match. Need I remind you of the unfair advantage Yankees have due to Yes network and the 500 million it brings in before they even sign a player. No offense but the Yankees, Tigers, Previous Versions of Red Sox, Dodgers are the reason Baseball needs a salary cap. The Marlins owner is the reason they need a salary floor.

The Yankees can afford a 300 million dollar payroll because before ticket sales, food and beverage sales, and parking they clear 200+ million dollars in profit before they even play a game. Sorry but it is BS and unfair to others in the sport.

Yet they don't have a 300 million dollar payroll, and Hal has mandated a salary of 189 million next year, which would put them under the luxury tax threshold. Other than the 2009 Yankees, 2004 and 2007 Redsox, what team won a world series like that. So 3 out of 8 world series were won by huge spending teams that you mentioned. Doesn't seem like a horrible ratio to me.

The Yankees have bought more championships then that Hi 1929 Babe Ruth Contract purchase, Mantle, Berra championships of the 50's. The Yankees invented buying championships due to the hold on the market they had. Others were guilty of it as well just the Yankees are the most prevalent at it.

lol smh... If buying championships were so easy, then every year the WS winner would be someone with a top 5 payroll. Hmm but for some reason it is not. Hell your Tigers should have won by now then

Exactly, spending the most money doesn't always equate to titles...
