Homer Bailey has agreed to a six-year, $105 million contract that includes a mutual option for a seventh year with the Cincinnati Reds, ESPN and multiple outlets are reporting.

Several sources have confirmed to Baseball America that the Phillies, who drafted Wetzler in the fifth round last June but did not sign him, told the NCAA in November that Wetzler violated the NCAA’s “no agent” rule. That rule is widely disregarded by baseball prospects, whose advisers routinely negotiate with teams on players’ behalf, against NCAA rules—because that is the industry norm. As an American League scouting director told Baseball America in 2008, “Every single player that we deal with—I don’t care what round you’re talking about—has representation, has an agent.”

And every year, some players drafted inside the top 10 rounds elect not to sign pro contracts, often drawing the ire of the clubs that drafted them. But major league teams almost never attempt to contact the NCAA in order to report potential violations. The Phillies, according to sources, did just that with two players they drafted last year: Wetzler and sixth-round pick Jason Monda, who opted to return to Washington State for his senior year. Monda was cleared to play by the NCAA last Thursday, the day before the college season began.

I really don't get what the Phillies hope to accomplish with this. It's way past the deadline for the players to sign with the Phillies, so this move seems to be purely out of spite. This could lead to a situation where some draft picks that are unsure if they want to go pro refuse to even talk with the Phillies, and it could lead to a situation where schools refuse to even give any sort of credentials to Phillies scouts.

Atlanta Braves Pitcher Had Surgery On His Dickhole

Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Minor will be starting his spring training late, as he's recovering from shoulder soreness tangentially caused by dickhole surgery.

Minor had the procedure on his urethra on the last day of 2013; the surgery caused the lefty to miss practice in January and led to shoulder soreness when he started pitching. Everything is connected.

The important question is why Minor needed surgery, though. Let's get the dickhole deets, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Minor, 26, had a cystoscopy performed Dec. 31 by a specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, after having difficulty urinating for the past two years. He had visited multiple urologists and other specialists in that period, and none could figure out what was causing the problem.

It worsened to the point where he had to go to the emergency room, and a specialist at Vanderbilt said he had scar tissue built up inside his urethra that would have to be removed via the cystoscopy. He was told there was a 50 percent chance that it could return at some point, and that it was impossible to predict when.
Minor and his dickhole will reportedly be fine for the regular season.

Are you an MD? It's tough to diagnose a patient without observing signs. Urethral stricture can be caused by a multitude of factors. STDs can be one factor...

Yep, because his contract calls for him to get paid by the in-season day rather than by the game he'll still get paid for the 21 days the Yankees have off during the season, which will lead to him getting 11% of his salary which ends up being $2.9 million. In addition in January he received $3 million in deferred money from his signing bonus, which he was going to get no matter what.

It would be a waste of time for just 2.9 mil (which is basically pennies in comparison to what his salary for the 2014 season if he played) and to drag this A-Rod stuff longer.

UPDATE: Watching the Phillies/Yankees ST game right now and Jeter is moving very well. He'll be alright (the only question is will his bat be and I believe it will be).
