Direct TV always gives a free preview for their Extra Innings package during the first week of the season. They are a major cable provider here in Chicago. Don't know what their presence is like everywhere else, but if you happen to be a subscriber, you could have caught that Yanks/Astros game and everything else... for a week anyway.

The problem with Extra Innings is it still has blackout restrictions, which can be terrible depending on where you live. Every area has at least one team that is considered a territorial market and most areas are the territorial market for multiple teams. I live in Iowa and Iowa is considered a territorial market for the Twins, Brewers, Royals, Cardinals, Cubs, and White Sox, so any games featuring those teams will be blacked out on Extra Innings due to MLB's terrible asinine blackout rules.

yikes! that does suck. only pertains to Chi Sox and Cubs where I'm at.. that, itself, kinda stinks because I'm a Cubs fan and would almost rather do w/o cable tv altogether... I'd just be a MLB.TV subscriber which I could stream through a SMART TV, but no Cubs - no deal.

DirecTv is everywhere, problem is Extra innings is subject to blackout restrictions 75 miles from home city

Braves and Brewers had a real pitcher's duel today. Chris Johnson's HR with 2 outs in the top of the 7th was the first hit for either team. Milwaukee got their first hit to start the bottom of the 7th. 3 hits for the Braves and 2 for the Brewers. Nice Atlanta debut for Harang.

Same 3Bs I have... I put Lucroy in as my last util today (along with Freddie Freeman). Probably moving Marlon Byrd into it soon though.

75 miles is the distance for NFL blackouts. It can be much further for MLB teams. I live roughly 250 miles from Minneapolis, 300 miles from Milwaukee, 325 miles from Kansas City and Chicago, and 350 miles from St. Louis, but am still considered in the territorial market for all those cities teams (Iowa is tied with southern Nevada for the most territorial teams).
