stayed at the New Yorker a year or two ago. great location but the rooms are smaaall. maybe it was just the room i paid for but damn i could nearly touch wall to wall with outstretched arms....but who cares, you dont go to NYC to stay in your room, that was my logic anyway...

Tanaka

Basically the only reason the Yankees are still relevant this year.

Kimbrel set the Braves franchise record for saves 155, breaking Smoltz's record. They've spent basically the same amount of time in the closer role. But Kimbrel has a ridiculous career ERA of 1.42.

Myself as well, JKS. We met some really cool people from Atlanta when they played up here, in Toronto, a few years ago. Watching Braves playoff games with half of the upper deck empty (year after year), was shocking.

Comerica Park and Ford Field (right beside each other) in Detroit are in a similar situation. They draw well but behind the 2 stadiums is the CASS Corridor and it is dangerous (on a good night). I love going to Motown and just wish things would get better there.

I've been there twice and found Manhatten very easy to navigate. It's just a big numbered grid.

Having been to the old Yankee Stadium in 2006 and 2008, I figured those apartment buildings behind right field had been there since before the ballpark was built (pre 1921). Looked like a pretty tough neighbourhood. I couldn't believe the number of NYPD's outside the ballpark, walkin' the beat.

You'll be fine dude. Manhatten is simple simon to get around in (other than the 24 hr traffic jam). If in doubt, hop in a yellow cab...they're everywhere.

But YS is in the BX not Manhattan is easy because it's just numbers for the most part. Boroughs are a little tougher to navigate but not impossible by any means.

Edit: Man I am . Not sure what I wrote lol. Damn zebras hosing the Rangers.

I know.....hence the cab suggestion.

I remember being on the Cross Bronx Expressway in 2006 (coming from the North) and then after the ballgame, accidently crossing the Harlem River and being in Harlem (is Harlem the northern portion of Manhatten island?). Wasn't so bad, as we got to see where the old Polo Grounds were (rough lookin' neighbourhood, though). We did, however, get a few looks from the locals because of our Ontario plates.

Thats because Detroit screwed up BIGTIME when they built the stadiums just like they screw everything else up. Whats worse is there is about to be a 3rd Stadium right across the street next to Hockeytown cafe and the theaters right there. 1 of the 2 stadiums now should have been on the other side of the freeway where they built 300k condos in front of the ghetto around the block from them. Yes I said that there are 300k condos on the main street go a block over and its the slums.

Detroit designed itself like crap and the city is paying for it. But what does me a lowly white guy from the suburbs know about how to get people from my demographic down to thr city to spend money lol.

Manny Machado is a little *****. He should get at least 10 games for that stunt today, though it'll probably get appealed down to 5.

It was a cheap move to throw the bat like he did, and he should be suspended, but what kind of ***** throws at a guys knee after he comes back from knee surgery? If he had charged the mound and beat the shit out of Abad I would have been okay with it, but not throwing the bat like that.

What kind of ******* tries to start a fight because he got tagged out and then hits a catcher with his backswing twice, once knocking him out of the game, without checking on the guy? His fight led to a guy getting 2 balls thrown at his face.

The pitch was surely a cheap move, but Machado's reaction was classless.

Any time you see a headline like this you know your team is ****ed.

Joe Maddon Calls In Medicine Man To Fix The Rays

Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon invited 77-year-old tribal elder Bobby Henry to Tropicana Field on Monday in an attempt to help his team, which has the worst record in the majors.

"We just turned him loose on the Trop," Maddon said.

Maddon talked about Henry's "supernatural powers," specifically when it comes to making it rain.

"If it rains in the Trop, I'll be really impressed. That will be his best moment ever," he told reporters.

While it didn't rain inside, a heavy downpour began outside Tropicana Field after Henry's visit, which was noted by the team on its Twitter account.

The Rays lost to the Mariners 3-0.

I'm starting to think that the injured Rangers have a better team than the one we are fielding these days.

3 starting pitchers, 3 relief pitchers, and you could field an entire team short of left field.

And that's just those who are injured now. What a sad sad year.

The league handed down a 5 game suspension for Manny Machado for his assorted temper-tantrum antics in last weekend's series against the A's. Machado is appealing. I expected a 10 game suspension that would be reduced to 5 after appeal.

Braves

Last time Braves faced Nicasio, they got 2 hits in 6 innings. 7 hits and 7 runs in the first tonight.

So of course Minor pitches like crap and loads the bases right away.
