For his career Lincecum isn't really overpaid just because he was so underpaid during his best seasons. Prior to this season Lincecum had made $64 million in 6 seasons, and during that time he won 2 Cy Youngs, made 4 All-Star teams, was a key player in leading the team to the 2010 title, and had a very good NLDS in 2012. He's also been a very durable pitcher, starting at least 32 games every year since he became a full time player. Lincecum is definitely overpaid now, there's no questioning that, but for his career he's probably been paid pretty fairly.

Absolutely, but it's insane that baseball pays for what you have done and not what you are expected to do.

My Braves haven't thrown one since 1994. And only 3 since being in Atlanta.... Phil Neikro in 1973 (Padres), Kent Mercker/Mark Wohlers/Alejandro Pena in 1991 (Padres) and Mercker in 1994 (@ Dodgers).

He was amazing and had a lot to do with both world series titles, yes hes def overpaid at the moment, but if we somehow make the playoffs again, I know for damn sure he'll shine again!

Almost every sports star is overpaid, Trout, Miggy, JV, Tanka, CC, etc. all overpaid.

No hes still overpaid, no sports star should ever earn more than 1 million dollars, that is plenty to live off of. 150 million to play a kids game give me a break. FYI that does not just go for MLB that goes for all sports.

Im not saying the owners should be making 100 million either, drop the salaries drop the ticket prices and make this crap more affordable all around. You really think a ticket on the Green Monster should be 100+ or a ticket to the Bears in Chicago should be 150 dollars? If you think thats reasonable your as delusional as your last statement. It should not cost 250 dollars for a family of 4 to go to a game.

Perhaps prices shouldn't be that excessive, but they should certainly cost more than going to a movie or a play.


It costs over a $100 per person to go to Universal or Disney World here in Orlando. It's a capitalistic society. If prices are too high, people won't go. It's as simple as that. If people can't afford to go to a game, then sorry for their luck. Nowhere does it say that we should be guaranteed to see a sporting game.

Besides a family of four to a sporting event for a little more than $60 per person is nothing.
