Sure I can. In 2010, you had more guys getting on base and knocking in runs than you did in 2011. Yes, the output of your catchers declined, but even if you factor in what Posey's numbers were in 2010 and 2012, it still only gets you closer to the wild card.

Of course, Posey also plays a much more important position. Catchers have an effect on the pitching staff that is very difficult to measure. 3B doesn't have the same impact.

But Bryant is also an unproven commodity. You lose an entire year of team control for a shot at him helping your team win a couple of games in the 12 or so they play without him.

If I told you that you could drive the luxury car of your dreams for the next 6 years today... or wait 12 days and get to drive it for the next 7 years, which would you take?

Sorry but you are wrong about Posey and the 2011 season. You take a solid cleanup hitter out of any lineup and you won't score runs. That makes no sense. We had no catchers that could hit. Add to that his place in the batting lineup, clearly fewer runs are going to be scored. Add to the fact that it is essentially two spots in the batting order that weren't hitting for $#!t, you are bound to not score as many runs. Besides the fact that by the end of July, with our big all star acquisition on the DL there was nobody hitting in the lineup. The pitching was still there, and was just as strong as 2010. You can minimalize Posey's injury all you want, but clearly we were not the same team without him, stats prove that. I watched just about every game that season. I'm probably the only Giants fan that didn't want Wheeler traded for Mr. Injury.

And to answer your question...yes I would take that car for six years especially if I had the Cubs money. [emoji2]

What's crazy is the Braves broadcast had just seconds earlier shown him making an almost identical play against the same hitter last year.

(The "unbelievable" at the beginning is the announcer after rewatching last year's play).

Officially going to visit my 15th team (I would say stadium, but I've been to 2 Atlanta stadiums, so it's a bit misleading) in July when I visit Coors Field for the Braves weekend series. It will be the first team from either of the West divisions.

Here's who I will have left to visit
NL East - Miami
NL Central - Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh
AL Central - Detroit, Minnesota, [Cleveland - visited their old stadium, so may try to see Jacob's Field sometime as well]
NL West - Arizona, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco
AL West - Anaheim, Houston, Oakland, Seattle, Texas

The Braves should be playing the AL Central next year, and AL West in 2017, so I may try and get to Detroit and/or Minnesota next year dependent on schedule (and maybe Cincy/Cleveland as well), and then hopefully Texas/Houston in 2017.

I will probably try and do the California teams when I get my next long vacation from work, which would be between 2019 and 2022.

It's early, but they're doing everything right. Still have solid defense and really good pitching, but we have contact guys now. Last year we sat around waiting for a home run, and when we did get guys in scoring position, we struck out too much and left runs out there. This year we're at least putting the ball in play.

But looks like I jinxed the team.... 5-2 now with bases loaded and nobody out in top of the 7th

Yeah, singled to death by San Diego. Nothing really hit too hard, but Bum wasn't very sharp. Kershaw got banged around as well. Not a good day for the premier lefties in the NL west. That plus McGehee going down....sigh.

Kershaw's stuff has looked mortal in his first two starts. It looks like he is planning on throwing 250 innings this year, he hasn't pulled out his top velocity yet. I wonder if the playoff starts against the Cards got in his head?
