That's why I don't bother voting anymore in any league (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL). It's a joke and this year's MLB AS voting further proves it.

Former Major League Darryl Hamilton was shot and killed by the mother of his 14-month-old child, who then turned the gun on herself.

The child has been turned over to Child Protective Services.

There's new evidence that Pete Rose bet on his team as a player which was the one part he still denied doing. People are saying that this is the final nail in the coffin when it comes to his reinstatement hopes.

Personally, if he only bet for his team to win, this really doesn't change my view on his eligibility for the hall (I'm pro Rose) since it's essentially an extension on what he's admitted to. I'm okay with people not seeing it that way though since it was sort of an A-Rod admit only as much as you need and hope that its enough situation. Unfortunately, Pete Rose will leave this earth still out of the hall.

Can I just say how much I love Brett Gardner

Never thought I'd have a favorite player so soon after the Captain retired. But damn was I wrong.

Pete put himself under that awful spotlight. He gets more scrutiny that someone else might, fair or not. And that scrutiny is showing him to be such a non-truth teller. That will have a very negative bias against him, fair, or not.

It is more unethical to bet on a sport that you play OR coach in, look at the past athletes caught and what there penalties are: lifetime ban, and or no pro career after as nobody will take that chance. He deserves his Ban, he has been caught lying from the beginning. First he said "I never bet on baseball", which was a lie. Then he said " I never bet on my own team", again a lie he was caught in. Now it's " I never bet as a player", which we now know was a lie too. The guy should not be put in the hall until he is Dead. He should no be allowed to profit while he is alive. And then all of you who like ***'s, he should have a big one on his plaque that says "Gambling on baseball is illegal, as a player or manager, and because of this has been banned from Baseball for life. Was enshrined after death on xx/xx/20xx.

How is it not fair? He got caught lying AGAIN. At this point only A-roid and Bonds have more. You lie enough, you start to believe it. He probably thinks the baseball saints should give him saint-hood.

Not as a established HOF'er. And unless I am mistaken, he hasn't been in or to the hall for years. He usually goes about a block away, to a business that sponsors him and his signings. I don't know if that info is true anymore though...

Thankfully Miggs has overtaken Hosmer for 1B votes. Hosmer isn't even a top 5 AL 1b . Don't get me started on Infante... It seems Josh Donaldson has closed the gap towards Moose, and hopefully he'll overtake him. Moose has been decent, but not even close to Donaldson or Machado. Castellanos who has been a disaster has more votes than Machado .

Frankly I'm disappointed Gardner is being outvoted by Ellsbury and Beltran.

Harper leads the nl voting by a country mile and rightfully so. Not bad for a player that most fans supposedly still hate.

Because he's actually playing this year. But he's hated because he's been a jackass for so long. Hopefully he keeps this act going.

It is. And he makes a small fortune doing it. And he was there last year.

A lot of guys still aren't even in the league at 22 years old and this is his fourth season. 122 OPS+ heading into this season means he was more than earning his 5 million dollar total salary over the first three years. Strictly speaking, he's still a jackass as his attitude is about the same that it's always been. Monstrous numbers masks all I guess which shows the hypocrisy of many fans.

Well, he's been signing autographs a lot this season. He almost never signed previously.

They probably told him to improve his image, so now he's out there signing. Call me cynical.

Morales over Cruz is also ridiculous when it comes to the all-star game, but Cruz is very close. Kipnis being more than 3.5 million votes behind Infante (or anyone) on the AL ballot is just absurd.

But not as much as what would come with the title of HOF'er. The guy is an embarrassment to all of Baseball. Just wait...more will come out, and he'll be caught in another lie. He can't help himself. If he enters the hall while alive in my lifetime, I won't support the hall anymore. But that's just me.
