While I agree, for the most part, Grienke says he wants to win and as of now no team has won more in the past five years. The Giants have the benefit of being known as a great franchise for players, loyal to a fault. That plays in their favor. So unless the Dodgers over pay by ALOT, so much so that you would be crazy to turn it down, I could very well see them pursue Grienke.

I've read some rumblings around Shields, he could be a nice option if we can't land a big name, he should come cheaper then Price or Hamels but will the Padres want to trade with us is the question...

According to Mets gm Alderson there is no deal. MLB Network has been showing footage from press conferences and even interviewed a Mets beat writer who was at the press conference

Just saw that the deal fell apart. Had it gone through, i don't think the Mets would regret it at all. They need hitting. If that team can score 3-4 runs a game they will be incredibly difficult to beat. Get them in the playoffs and they could be lights out.

A young lefty starting pitcher, a closer, a lefty reliever and one of the team's top prospects (though potentially blocked at his current position) for 2 minor leaguers, an injured pitcher and a compensation pick?! This is the first trade this year I've had a problem with.

Jesus Jays that's one way to try and make up the deficit. Kinda bummed we missed out on Price. I'm good with stayin pat or acquiring Chapman depending on the price.
