Cubs sure cleaned up with the NL awards, winning Rookie of the Year for Kris Bryant, Manager of the Year for Joe Maddon, NL Cy Young for Jake Arrieta, and Anthony Rizzo placing 4th in MVP voting, Arrieta 6th, and Bryant 11th. Going into the 2015 season I thought the team would be improved but not a playoff contender yet, but going into 2016 this team should be a World Series contender.

It's an even year next year, and Bruce Bochey will out manage the @$$#at gimmick that is Joe Maddon in the playoffs. Why can't people see thru his new age baseball schtick? HE HASN'T WON SQUAT. He is better at being Bobby Valentine, than Bobby V himself.

David Price is going to the Red Sox in a 7-year, $217 million deal with an opt-out after 3 years. That seems like a lot for a guy that's pitched over 1,500 innings in his career and has struggled in the postseason.

It's possible that the Braves trade off Shelby Miller could result in the Marlins having difficulty moving Fernandez after the Dbacks set a high price...

From Jeff Passan: "Dansby Swanson, Aaron Blair and Ender Inciarte is the core of the sort of deal I was expecting to see for Jose Fernandez, not Shelby Miller."

As a Cubs fan I'm just glad they didn't dump him last season when he got benched. In addition to getting virtually nothing back they would have had to eat a good portion of his salary, whereas now they get a solid pitcher who's 3 years from free agency and don't have to take on any of Castro's contract. I liked Castro but won't miss the inevitable boneheaded plays he frequently makes. He did seem to have possibly turned a corner after he was benched and then moved to second base, and he'll only be 26 on opening day so he's still got a lot of upside.

I think we keep him at 2nd, which is fine with me.

Jason Heyward has reportedly chosen the Cubs as his next team and they are in the process of finalizing a deal. That team is going to be loaded with the additions they've made.

On a side note, this is usually when Nav would chime in about 2016 being an even year and thus the Giants would win the title. RIP friend.
