What the hell ....

MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports that Justin Upton is "close to a deal" with the Tigers.

There had been some speculation that Upton might have to settle for a one-year contract and then try free agency again next winter, but FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says he'll be getting a six-year, $132.75 deal that includes an opt-out after the second year. It's a reasonable commitment for the Tigers, especially considering Upton is just 28. He'll take over as Detroit's left fielder.

Move over Pete Rose. He's no longer the only living current of former MLB player banned from the game for life. The PED's really didn't even do much for him. He was nothing special in the big leagues.

Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia made baseball history Friday, becoming the first player to be permanently suspended by Major League Baseball after testing positive again for a performance-enhancing substance.

MLB said Mejia tested positive for boldenone and that the right-hander also is permanently suspended from playing minor league baseball.

It marked his third positive PED test in the past year, triggering the lifetime expulsion.

As for another fraternity, Hall of Fame voters, he offered a little advice for when they next cast their ballots.

"God knows I'm a Hall of Famer," Bonds said.

In the latest round of Hall voting by the Baseball Writers Association of America, Bonds -- his candidacy attached to steroid allegations from the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative investigation -- got 44.3 percent of the votes cast, leaving him nearly 31 percent short of the threshold for admission.

As long as you feel the same about that degenerate Gambler, and frequent liar Pete Rose. How many lies was he caught in? And he did bet on baseball as a player and a Manager, which is a HUGE no-no. He has about as much integrity as Bonds. Both lied their a$$es off.

Tell me again how betting on your team has anything other than a potential negative effect on your team.

And tell me how steroids have no positive effect on a player's performance or longevity.

I'd have voted Pete Rose in on the first ballot if given the opportunity. He never used PED's and accomplished what he did cleanly. Easily a HOF'er and without evidence he threw games I think the gambling thing is badly overblown.

Your hypocrisy, like most of Pete's supporters knows no bounds. He bet on baseball as a player and a Manager. Things he can control like runs scored for or against, were he can help in the outcome. We know he bet on his own games. We also know that as a manager, he is provided info on games, that oddsmakers don't see. If that isn't crooked, I don't know what is.

Got tickets to see at least 2 of the Braves games here in KC in May One in the front row of the outfield, and one in the front row of the club level. Waiting to figure out if I'll be going to the Friday game as well.

I'll also be seeing 3 games that month in Atlanta (May 27 and 28 vs Miami in the club level, and May 30 against the Giants... possibly a few rows behind the Braves dugout, waiting for confirmation).

Just have to decide on August 6 and 7 in St Louis, and my baseball plans will be done.

Ian Desmond has signed a one year $8 million deal to play for Texas. Afetr the 2013 season he turned down a 7 year $120 million extension in favor of a 2 year $17.5 million extension with Washington in hopes of getting a bigger payday after those two seasons. He picked the worst possible year to have a horrible year in 2015 and $8 million was the best he could get. He'll have to play LF instead of SS as well.

Heading down to Arizona tomorrow for some Cubs spring training games. Sunday I'm going to see the Cubs-Diamondbacks game at the Diamondbacks park in Scottsdale, and then Tuesday I'm going to see the Cubs-Dodgers game at the Cubs field in Mesa.
