It's July 1st, aka Bobby Bonilla's favorite day of the year. Today is the day Bonilla gets paid $1.193 million from the Mets in deferred compensation. For a refresher, when the Mets bought out Bonilla's contract in 2000 they owed Bonilla $5.9 million. Rather than pay that amount they agreed to a deal in which Bonilla would get 8% interest, or $1.193 million every year from 2010-2035. The Mets owners were making much more than that with their investments with Bernie Madoff so they thought it was a good investment.

Braves continuing to load up their farm system. Signed the #1, 18, 19, 22 and 24 rated international free agents.

Braves scouts say the #1, Kevin Maitan, is the top player to come out of Latin America in 10 years.

The signings did give them a max penalty though. So for the next 2 seasons, they cannot sign anyone for over $300,000 and they have to pay a 100% tax on the overage.

Fort Bragg game tonight is going to be really cool. Great that MLB and the MLBPA got together to make this happen.

Toronto made sure to remind Cleveland not to plan that World Series parade just yet today.

How about this though. During the Indians recent streak they swept Detroit, then Atlanta, won the first two games vs Toronto before dropping two straight vs Toronto. You know what? Maybe continue planning that parade after all.

I'd be willing to bet the Braves will be the first team to ever play in 5 different stadiums over a 7 day span.

Saturday: Turner Field
Sunday: Fort Bragg
Monday-Wednesday: Citizens Bank Park
Thursday: Wrigley Field
Friday: US Cellular Field

He didn't give any real clues, but sounds like MLB wants to hold more games in "unusual places". They should just leave the stands up and make this an annual game around July 4.

Yeah, easier to hold a basketball game just about anywhere compared to a baseball game due to size of playing field. I remember a college basketball game between UNC and MSU that was played on a battleship and it was a great atmosphere.

Noted ball hawk Zack Hample managed to get into the Braves-Marlins game and snagged a ball. This set off a social media backlash as the game was supposed to be for military soldiers and their families only.

Yep and the 82nd twitter responded to him telling him to delete his account, bet the person that sold him the tickets or brought him to the game is gong to get in big trouble as apparently they were checking that stuff as only 12500 tix were available and they know who got which tickets.

Theo needs to seriously upgrade the Cubs bullpen. 5 of the Cubs top 6 prospects are position players and it appears the Cubs aren't going to have a spot for any of them for years. They need to use some of those prospects and go after Chapman or Andrew Miller from the Yankees plus some better middle relievers.
