I wouldn't say he struggles in New York.

He's only made 4 post-season appearances there, and even though his team has a losing record in those 4 games, it's not really his fault.

Look at Game 2 as a typical example. If your starter pitches into the 7th and only gives up 3 runs to the Yankees, I think you consider that a good outing. The Phillies just couldn't score any runs. It's not like the Yankees pounded away at Pedro and blew the Phillies out for the win.

Also, Pettitte has 4 T's in his name. I used to always spell it wrong (Petitte Pettite, etc) but then figured it's easy to remember it's two sets of double-Ts.

Not unless the Phillies somehow win the series. The MVP is still open for debate but I think A-Rod is certainly in the running, if the Yankees win.

Phillies win big tonight to set up a game 7

pitching on 3 days rest is not working out well for the Yankees so far.... I see Pettite getting lit up early...

I find it very interesting how everyone has just forgiven Pettitte for using steroids while we vilify Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Mark Magwire, and Sammy Sosa, none of whom have ever definitively failed a drug test or admitted use. I wonder if any of those guys had just admitted they used steroids and asked for forgiveness if they'd have been as easily forgiven.

I think they would have. Plus pettitte really isn't as big as those guys one was in the top 5 greatest pitchers of all time, the other maybe greatest hitter(not now), then the two who battled and were partly responsible for the resurrection of baseball.

I think the Yankees have a greater chance to win Game 7 than Game 6. But hopefully they can just end it tonight.

I think you're right, and people seemed to forgive the players that admitted they messed up, but maybe it's also based on the personalities involved. Clemens, Bonds, and Sosa not only deny using steroids, but they almost have some sort of arrogance in their denials. Someone like Pettitte seemed quiet about it, and people moved on.

I'm not sure what you mean about not definitively failing a drug test. Sosa was on the same 2003 list that Manny and A-Rod were on.

Bonds is facing a trial for perjury, so there's tons of smoke there (and according to prosecutors, plenty of evidence). The BALCO guy, who went to jail, said he'll refuse to testify in the Bonds trial. That's another red flag that something is up.

Clemens is also facing perjury charges, and is linked to the same trainer as Pettitte, and there's apparently plenty of evidence provided by that trainer.

The only one that's up in question is McGwire. He's never denied using andro, which was banned by the NFL and IOC (among other organizations) but was allowed by MLB at the time (though it's now banned there too). Whether he was using other stuff too, who knows.

Yeah, there are people like that everywhere, and they're pretty annoying. The ones I dislike the most are the ones that you can tell are really hoping to be on TV, like the two guys who dressed up as umpires and sat in the front row behind home plate at a Toronto/NYY game. It was funny, sort of, I guess, but it seemed like they cared more about being on TV than being at the game.

Tonight your hitters will have to win the game for you, not your pitcher. It's a true pitchers battle between Pettite and Pedro, so whoever can hit them will determine the outcome.
