I love the Indians but when I went to the wildcard game a few years back when they played (and lost) to Tampa it was one of he most depressing baseball games I went to. The crowd was not in it at all and it was a far cry from the playoff games that I went to when the Indians were making their runs in the 90s

I remember the Piazza homerun. Definitely an uplifting moment. Gordon's home run last night was also surreal.

I have no problem with Miami retiring his numbers. It's not always about what he accomplished in baseball, but the affect he had on the game, fans, community, etc.

Indians officially won the AL Central division yesterday, for the first time since 2007.

Fernandez had been in an argument with his girlfriend before going out on his boat. He had invited some of his teammates, but they all declined. Ozuna had reportedly told him to not go out.

I'd been to regular season games in the mid-to-late '90s that had more intensity than that wildcard game (especially 1997). The way Alex Cobb was pitching had a lot to do with the crowd being out of it, I think. He was just lights out that day.

I hope that the atmosphere there this playoffs is electric (something similar to what the Cavs experienced these last two years would be nice), but I don't think anything will top the intensity of the crowds in those '90s years. That was something special.

As a Marlins fan, whose favorite player was Jose Fernandez, that night was a beautiful tribute to a great player and someone who seemed like a great human being that everyone loved. The Dee Gordon moment hit me pretty hard and even my fiancé who hates baseball started balling. Absolutely breathtaking and transcendent moment, and one I will never forget.

That's exactly why the Marlins retire his number, the full impact of Jose Fernandez on the Marlins can never be measured simply by baseball statistics. Sure he was dominant on the mound, but Jose's story, his personality, and the sheer joy and appreciation he had for the game and being able to play it are what made him special. The Marlins absolutely made the right call on this.

Braves definitely played a part in determining the playoffs this year.

Record against NL East teams:
Nationals: 4-15
Mets: 10-9
Marlins: 11-7
Phillies: 10-8 (1 game left)

I am shocked the Marlins record is that good against the Braves. I swear we could have the best team ever, and win every game not against the Braves during the season, while the Braves are setting record lows on wins and we would still have a losing record against them. They have our number

My Nationals are in trouble, they have injuries to key players[Harper-Murphy-Strasburg]and so-so pitching that ain't gonna win against the Dodgers.

I wish Ted still owned the Braves. It was nice having an owner who cared about winning rather than just making profits, as the current ownership is.

Grabbed some grass, some dirt from the mound and some chalk from the third base line.
