They wanted Betts and Benintendi over the summer so this is a drastically reduced cost imo.

Not to mention Moncada has trouble with curve balls and didn't impress when he was called up and Kopech while he has potential is nothing more then a question mark at this stage.

Royals are close to a deal sending Wade Davis to the Cubs.

Eh..they only really gave up 2 top guys in their system who aren't proven yet for arguably the best pitcher in the AL. Wouldn't surprise me if Sale wins the Cy Young in the next year or two. Realistically it's a win-win for both teams.

Supposedly if the trade happens it will be Davis for Jorge Soler straight up. I figured the Cubs would have to give up some prospects in addition to Soler. I like him but he's an absolutely awful defender and the Cubs will already have one questionable defensive outfielder (Schwarber) going forward. Soler has a cannon for an arm but his decision making has always been questionable. There's also the fact that he's been injury-prone.

And when you have a nearly unlimited budget it's of little consequence. It's not like MLB has a salary cap or the Red Sox are a small market club.

Age and contract cost could have played a part. Eaton is a decent CF but was amazing in RF last year. Could have won the gold glove. They could be saving SOME money to give Bryce his huge payday if the Yankees don't give him a $350-$400 million dollar deal.

I'm a White Sox fan and was ecstatic when I read all they gave for him...but the Nationals are in a bit of a rush to beat the other heavyweights out there. They had to give to get in this case. Now that Chapman is off the market back to the Yankees if I'm Rick Hahn I'm calling the Nationals back about taking Robertson haha.

I believe that from what i have heard or read that a lot of the players on the White Sox could be up for grabs might not even be anyone untouchable either too.

Bryce Harper signed a 1 year $13.625 million deal with the Nationals. It's the last contract before he becomes a free agent in 2018 and likely gets the largest deal in MLB history. Boras is supposedly pushing to get Harper a 10 year deal at >$400 mill. Wouldn't shock me if he actually gets that kind of money.
