MLB has changed the intentional walk rule, allowing a dugout signal rather than the pitcher throwing four balls. This will save about 2 minutes per game. I actually liked the pitcher having to throw the ball 4 times just for the rare mistakes in the video below:

I guess with the new rule on the walking of an batter it saves a few mins and also will help the pitchers pitch count at least at first though.

Have fun. Spring training games can be a great chance to see some future stars. I'm heading to Arizona next month to catch the Cubs final spring training game and then Diamondbacks opening day. We're probably going to go to the Final Four and National Championship game as well as long as our ticket connection comes through.

Nice. I'll still have to come back to cross Chase Field off my stadium list. Only stadium I'm adding this year is Miami in May (and technically Atlanta in April). That would put me at 16 teams (though Cleveland was their old stadium).

You've never been to The Jake (yes, I know it's now Progressive Field..)

I've been to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit (old), Detroit (current), Toronto, and Cincinnati.

Hoping to add 2-4 more this year (between Baltimore, Philly, Washington, and Chicago).

First day was a success. Got a few Giants (with some help from my dad). 8 guys for a total of 21 cards.

Am I the only one who just realized the World Baseball Classic was going on? I literally just found it out today. Apparently it's been going on for over a week now. The thing is so poorly marketed it's barely mentioned by the sports media. Seems Japan is dominating it, as usual. The U.S. has always done poorly in these, never finishing better than 4th place.

I honestly thought they had folded the WBC after the last event. The attendance and TV viewership has always been horrific for this event. Many games draw well under 10,000 fans.

It's been ruled that Jose Fernandez was driving the boat (intoxicated) when the fatal crash happened.

A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigation into the fatal boat crash involving Miami Marlins star Jose Fernandez and two friends concluded the MLB starting pitcher was piloting the boat at the time of the accident.

Mike Clary of the Sun Sentinel passed along the commission's findings Thursday after a six-month probe into the September incident.

"Fernandez operated the [vessel] with his normal faculties impaired, in a reckless manner, in the darkness of night, in an area with known navigational hazards such as the rock jetties and channel markers," the report noted.

The report stated the watercraft was traveling in excess of 65 miles an hour when it struck a rock jetty near Miami Beach, Florida, on Sept. 25, killing all three people on board.

A toxicology report obtained by ESPN in October showed Fernandez had cocaine in his system and a blood alcohol content of .147 following the crash. The toxicology results also showed "multiple other substances" in his blood at the time.

It was only mentioned a couple of times during some spring training games i caught and of course to be surprised USA dominated even though Puerto Rico was the favorite though.

USA ran the gauntlet. They knocked out Dominican Republic (tourney favorite), Japan and Puerto Rico. And that was with most of the best U.S. players passing. Their championship game starter was an average Jays pitcher who had an ERA of like 4.50 last year.

The US/Japan semi-final was embarrassing. It looked like 90% of the fans in attendance were for Japan, while the game took place in L.A. It's a shame nobody watches this because they were some great games.
