Anyone follow college baseball? I don't but the College World Series was on so I watched the end of it.
LSU was down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth when their reliever, who had already pitched 1.1 innings, gives up 4 runs on 3 hits, walking one and also hitting a batter, and the LSU coach just left him out there. No one started warming up in the bullpen until the damage had already been done, but the coach let the guy who was out there finish the inning. And then half an inning later, Florida was the NCAA champion. Does college operate differently than the pros? I just can't imagine leaving the guy in there like that to flounder with elimination on the line. |

My idea for the MLB all-star game next year:
Gather the very worst pitchers in baseball...the guys with the highest ERAs and the most amount of home runs allowed...and use them and only them for both teams. ...would be the greatest all-star game in MLB history. |

Manfred name dropped three cities for possible expansion - Montreal, Charlotte and Mexico City. The only one that makes sense to me is Charlotte. Montreal has been tried and failed badly.
I can't see how a Mexican city can make it work financially. The country is too poor and it's hard to see how the team could pay massive contracts that would allow a team there to compete with American teams. And that's not even getting into the new, extremely hostile American government killing off any chance of expanding into Mexico. |

Montreal, the city & the fans did just fantastic. The current owner of the Marlins, Jeffrey Loria, drove that franchise into the ground, and thats the reason the Expos left. Hope they return.

Nobody was showing up for Expos games long before Loria bought them. From the mid-80's until they moved to Washington the team averaged <20,000 a game almost every season. Even in the strike shortened season of 1994 when the Expos were the best team in baseball they barely cracked 22k a game. I know a lot of it was the firesales due to financial issues and an awful ballpark but the only time Montreal ever had good attendance was for a few years in the late-70's and early 80's.

Nashville was my thought as well. They really support their current teams and the city is rapidly growing. A lot of people didn't think hockey would do well there but it's been a big success.

Jose Quintana has been traded to the Cubs for basically a kings ransom. What kills me is that there are moronic Yankees fans are there crying about we didn't get him. We would have to give up at least clint Fraizer and Gleyber Torres plus a ton of other top prospects. The organization just rebuilt the farm system last year to one top two farm systems in MLB. Now fans want the team to tear it apart? SMH I'm glad none of those idiots are not the GM. Cashman has a plan and it's working so far. They will be buyers, but cautious buyers. Not to mention they have a bigger need at 1B.
As far as expansion goes, The stadium situations with the A's and Rays need to be sorted out 1st before expansion happens. Also, I'm pretty sure Montreal will get 1st bids on a MLB team. |

I'm ecstatic as a Sox fan. But its a win/win in my opinion. Sox get another 2 potential studs in their already, quickly retooled farm system and Cubs get a solid pitcher to finish this year out and the next 2 years. He's been solid, had a down start but he's always had bad run support. Cubs knew Milwaukee were asking about Q as well, had to pay the price. White Sox will be relevant in 3-4 years hopefully
