I know my team, they always fail against the Yankees in the post-season. They're good hitters top to bottom of the lineup but we don't have any real ace pitchers yet. Until that gets fixed we won't be beating anybody in the post-season anytime soon.

Let's also be fair here...what the Twins were able to do this season was remarkable. They were sellers at the deadline and still ended up with 85 wins and a wild card game one year after they lost 103 games.

I don't expect the Yanks to make it past the Indians. I just wanted them to get to the ALDS so their young players had a little more experience in the postseason for the future. But this series with the Indians is going to be a very difficult one for the Yanks.

It was remarkable but Santana is inconsistent, so is Gibson. Berrios will probably be something but we probably need 2-3 more good pitchers. Hopefully we can find 1 or 2 in free agency and add another in the draft.

Yeah, starting pitchers are so hard to find. Just ask the Mets. Everyone was raving about their rotation but their pitchers can't stay on the field. I think baseball is starting to move in another direction where having a dominant bullpen is the way to win a world series. We saw it with the Royals in '15 and the Cubs/Indians last year.

I was at the game yesterday and the energy at the stadium was 09 like. The place was filled to capacity and barely anyone sat down in the 1st inning. When Did hit that homer in the 1st, they place went completely nuts. I was in the Toyota terrace (formally section 201) which is one of the new standing only areas in the stadium (I was just above the Yankee bullpen) and it was a great view.

It almost felt like the old stadium. We definitely were the 10th man on that field.

I don't think the Yankees ever wanted to play Cleveland. They know how dangerous they are. As a Yankees fan, I knew this was going to be a tall order for this Yankee team to take them down. They just don't have the experience that the Indians have and the Yanks aren't a complete team yet because they're still rebuilding on the fly. Since they couldn't beat Bauer, they're now going to have to defeat Kluber and I'll never bet against him at this point.

Yeah I don't get what he's getting at with 'spanking' and all that nonsense. The Yankees are heavy underdogs and not expected to win this series so who cares. Puffing your chest because you beat a team you are supposed to beat.

I think people just view the Yanks as the big bad Yankees by default but they are not that team...they haven't earned it. This is not an experienced group of players with tons of postseason wins under their belt. It's not even a team full of huge free agent players that they signed. They're a young, homegrown team and teams like that get put in their place in the postseason and perhaps learn from that experience later on.

That being said...Yanks did what they had to do against Kluber. Still have to hold on though as there is a lot of game left.

Yup, the days of the "big bad" Yankees are gone. With that said, they are 2yrs ahead of schedule. They weren't picked to make the playoffs this year (and most likely not even next year). Vegas had their win total at 83.5 (I picked over but at 85 at most) and they blew right by it. Cashman doesn't get enough credit for the work he's done in the last few yrs. They are basically playing with house money right now. CC and A-Rod's money both come off the books after this season so they'll be ready for that free agent class of 2018. They'll sign one big name player (Manny Machado manning 3rd base in the BX in 2019 anyone?).

Maybe...maybe not. I'd like to get a look at Gleyber Torres first. Maybe he's the answer at third. And if Judge, Sanchez and Bird turn out to be the real deal, I need to see Bird stay healthy before I believe it from him, then there's really no need to spend a fortune on Machado or Harper. But the Yanks have another year to make that decision.

As for Cashman...he deserves a ton of credit. I don't know about you, but when people kept complaining about how high the Yankee payroll was, I actually think they were hurting themselves by going out and getting locked into these long, guaranteed contracts. Finally they have freedom now to spend where they need to and keep the payroll down until they have to make decisions about their homegrown players when they hit free agency.
