MLB's wet dream. This is the 40th anniversary of the 1977 match up between the Dodger-Yankees.

Heh I'm a casual Dodgers fan since the Dukes were their farm team for a long time.

Maybe. I think people mistaken big market equals ratings. There also has to be a something that gets people to watch like a storyline or interest. I don't see much interest in that series. Some for the Yankees resurgence but not enough to break TV records. This isn't the 1970s or 80s anymore when there were few channels. It going to higher ratings than normal but not sure if it's going to set records.

It's like that organization is cursed to not get past the divisional series since they moved from Montreal and went from the Expos to the Nationals.

Good move for them. I think you have to do something to change things up. The Nationals are too good of a team to keep getting bounced in the first round of the postseason. I do think that one thing has hurt them though...the fact that the NL East stinks. No good teams in there so they really haven't played many big games this season until the playoffs. I look at the Astros the same way. All year long it was a cake walk to the division title. Sometimes it pays off to have to win some big games during the regular season rather than getting a big lead early and coasting the rest of the season.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but did the league change the rule for the All-Star Game where the winning side gets home field during the WS? I thought the AL won this year, but ESPN has said that L.A. gets Games 1 and 2.

6th manager in 10 years. It doesn't look good when you only give a guy 2 years to do something. If it keeps up, they will have to search below the barrel to find a manager.

Going back to when they were the Expos, only 4 managers have ever made the postseason. The longest tenured one? 407 games. The only one that's had more success than Dusty Baker? He coached 209 total games, and went 5-5 in the postseason after taking over as manager for the last 27 games of the season. Dusty Baker is the only Expos/Nationals manager to make the post-season twice.

It's certainly unfair if an unlikely wild card team sneaks into the WS, but I'm of the opinion that it made for the stakes to always be bigger, and that the players actually had something worthwhile to play for, in hopes that their respective team (hopefully contenders by All-Star break) get home advantage no matter who they play from the opposite league.

It was a dumb idea from the start, and still is. Getting rid of it was the best move this commissioner has so far done.

Had a feeling there was going to be a game 7 because there was no way Verlander was going to have a bad start. The thing that concerns me is that Robertson came in and got hit pretty hard. If the Yanks were to win a tight game tonight, Robertson is going to have to be a big part of it. But game 7's are a total toss up. I think the fact that the Astros have home field advantage is huge. If the Yanks lose this game, you're not going to go back to game 6 and say that the Yanks blew their opportunity to put the series away because Verlander was so dominant. You're going to go back to games 1 and 2 and say that the Yanks needed a split. Can't keep falling behind in these series because eventually, you're not going to win an elimination game.

Yet if you were the hero for the winning all-star team then get traded to a contender.in the other league, you ended up hurting your new team unintentionally. The format was utter bollocks.
