They have two glaring weaknesses: very bad with RISP (a surprise) and awful bullpen (since they lost some key pieces from last year, not a total surprise).
They still outscored opponent so they will get back on track, but I see them finish at around 86 wins... Might not be enough for a WC...
The problem also is that unlike last year (when they usually stroke first), they often trail early.
A typical Dodger game goes like this this year: down 0-2 after the 1st-2nd inning, down 1-4 after 5, closing in/tie in the 6th-7th then bullpen blows it...
Offensively, LAD gets a leadoff double and the inning ends with the runner still on 2nd-3rd with batters getting SO looking (Utley and Taylor are "good" at this).
LAD is, by far, the most SO-looking team (32% of SO are of the looking typewith Lg avg at 24%)...

White Sox catcher Welington Castillo just got hit with an 80 game PED suspension. He was caught using erythropoietin (EPO), a performance-enhancing substance. He also took full responsibility in his apology, not trying to claim he took it unknowingly or that the test was faulty.

The Red Sox designated Hanley Ramirez for assignment. While their official reasoning was that they needed a roster spot for Dustin Pedroia as he came off the DL it seems more likely that they want to make sure Ramirez didn't hit 497 plate appearances this season, which would have caused his $22 million 2019 option to vest.

I just discovered a Dwight Smith Jr. on the Blue Jays and he turned out to be exactly who I thought he was. Now all we need is Kevin Maas Jr., Matt Nokes Jr., Kevin Seitzer Jr. and Ricky Jordan Jr. Baseball card collectors from that era will understand what I'm talking about.

LAD last night's win against PHI

Their winning three-run "rally" in the eighth inning included an infield single off the third baseman, a missed pop fly by the second baseman, a single off the pitcher's glove, a wild pitch and a tiebreaking seeing-eye single through a drawn-in infield by Yasmani Grandal.

Not as spectacular than last year's win against PHI, that one was "Absolute Madness" but still fun

Here's a weird bit of record-keeping. Juan Soto of the Nationals had a pinch-hit home run today that was a continuation of a May 15 game. His Major League debut was May 20, but it's going into the record books as a May 15 home run. But his May 21 home run is still considered his first.

Somehow the Twins are 8-2 in their last 10 games and could realistically win behind Berrios tomorrow. Shame they're beyond terribad on the road or they'd probably be over .500 right now.

That's a break for the Indians because I do think they are far more vulnerable this season with their shaky bullpen. But there's nobody in their division that has a realistic shot of challenging them. Indians will be dangerous again in the playoffs though with their starting pitching and good offense. If they get Miller back and maybe trade for a reliever, their best baseball might still be in front of us.

And it looks like Machado is going to the Dodgers. I'm just glad he's not going to the Yanks because when I heard the Yanks were interested, it made me cringe. Yanks don't need Machado...they need pitching.
