In reality they don't... Game 1 (Hader Plays) - Brew Crew wins Game 2 (Hader Sits) - Brew Crew loses Game 3 (Hader Plays) - Brew Crew wins Game 4 (Hader Sits) - Brew Crew loses Game 5 (Hader Plays) - Brew Crew wins Game 6 (Hader Sits) - Brew Crew loses Game 7 (Hader Plays) - Brew Crew wins That's still 4 wins.... I know it's hypothetical and way outside of the norm, but it's a formula that's been working for Craig... and in theory should work. However, sometimes theories don't work and Hader has been roughed up in the past, so let's be ready for plan B. GO BREWERS!!! |

It was indeed dirty... Between this, the slides at second in G3, his lack of effort in G2 (run out a ground ball), his “getting out” of the batter box (twice this series, including a K looking), twice incorrectly “assuming” a HR during the regular season, I pitty the team who will sign him...

I'd love to see it happen, but do you really think the Dolans are going to be able to afford him? I'm already dreading the day the trade gets announced. It won't be this year or even next year, but it's going to happen simply because there's no way they can afford a $30+ million-a-year player while trying to field a competitive team.
The Indians' window of contention will probably slam shut in two years (mostly because the AL Central is a dumpster fire), and then the fire sale begins. |

If they don't keep him, fans might as well just all root for any other team. |

As for Lindor, I'm just being realistic. While I'd love to see it happen, keep in mind that they didn't re-sign Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, CC Sabathia or Cliff Lee when it came time for their big paydays, so expecting a different result with Lindor is setting yourself up for disappointment. And if/when the time comes, they'd better maximize the return. Waiting for a stupid compensatory draft pick by extending a qualifying offer just before he skips town is not going to cut it by any stretch. |

True, but he signed at below-market value because he really wanted to stay. For that matter, so did Carrasco, although I believe I remember hearing he had some sort of heart murmur/irregular heartbeat that compelled him to sign his deal as well. I just don't see Lindor turning down the monster-sized payday he's bound to receive just because he loves the organization/ballclub/city like those guys do.
Most guys (like Hamster, for example) that extend early don't have endorsement deals to fall back on, so the guaranteed money upfront is way more appealing to them than a guy like Frankie, who already has that endorsement money so he can afford to wait it out until those big bucks come. I think the Indians are going to try again to extend him sometime before arbitration (where he will wind up being awarded somewhere upwards of $10 million for next year), but I think the result will be the same as it was last year. That HR call was horrible last night. Clearly, Mookie’s arm extended beyond the wall into the stands and the fans have no obligation to get out of the way there.
I guess MLB wants a Dodgers/Red Sox series (which would be very good) but I can’t believe you miss that with replay. |

I did not think it was clear at all whether Mookie's arm was over the line, or that the fans were behind the line when they touched him. Mookie was reaching back slightly when he went up, but he wasn't up against the wall. After the ball bounced off his glove, he still drifted for at least another foot before his shoulder hit the wall.
His glove MIGHT have been over the line, but if so, it was a matter of inches, and it was impossible to tell with the views that we got, IMO. The only thing that would have been conclusive is if there was a camera angle looking straight along the wall, and I think they said a security guard was blocking that view. |
