1 WS in Atlanta

Time to move the team away from Poltergeist Central

What a stupid move to put choker Kershaw in the game. I stepped away from the game for a bit but when I saw it 3-3 I knew it was because of him. Maeda has been pitching well in the postseason and only 1.1 innings to go before closer Jansen pitches. Just be smart and play like it was the regular season where you won 106 games.

Don’t forget the abysmal performance of Bellinger and Seager, again and again in the playoffs, year after year... Seager continues to swing and miss at back foot breaking balls... again and again and again and again...
And Bellinger is still homerless at home in 70+ AB !
The two “big” FA signings (Kelly and Pollock) were awful in the series.
WAS stars showed up, LAD’s did not...

Congrats to the fans of the Nationals out there. They struggled a lot in the postseason but finally were able to advance in stunning fashion. I like them against the Cardinals too.

As for the Dodgers, they had a bad series and Roberts made some bad moves. What I will say is that they were bound to get tripped up in the playoffs sooner or later. Making back to back World Series appearances is tough enough. This is why I always say..if you’re in a position to win a World Series, you better win because there are no guarantees of getting back there. The Dodgers have thrown away far too many opportunities considering how dominant they’ve been in the regular season.

That's the main thing that turns me off about baseball. Six months of baseball and 162 games and the best team usually doesn't win the WS. There is so much luck involved in the playoffs that it's almost a crap shoot. At the very least they should make the first round a seven game series. The NBA, which only plays half the regular season games, has seven game series throughout. Why not MLB? More TV revenue as well and would increase the odds (although admittedly not by a lot) that the better team advances.

True, I've come to take for granted that they will underperform in the playoffs. Thankfully, other players like Freese, Turner and Muncy embrace the pressure and play even better, which helps offset somewhat.

I've noticed that especially whenever Kershaw takes the mound.

But isn’t that what makes the baseball playoffs great? Anything can happen and it’s so unpredictable. Just about 80 percent of the NBA playoffs is predictable and unwatchable, in my opinion.

That being said, I’m in favor of making the wild card round best of 3, with all 3 being in the same ballpark so travel isn’t an issue. Baseball is a sport about winning series so the wild card round shouldn’t come down to one game. And in terms of extending the playoffs and how the weather might be impacted, the weather in early November is better than late March in most places. So I’m fine with the playoffs spilling over into November. Looking ahead to the 2020 season, opening day is March 26th. That is insane.

What's unpredictable about the Yankees giving the Twins the business every single time?

28 possible games to watch for a team to win a NBA Championship is a lot, personally.

That’s an exception. For whatever reason, the Yanks have their number. I can’t really make sense of it. I remember the late 90s Yankees couldn’t beat the Angels, and those Yankee teams were as dominant as you’ll ever see. But when are you ever going to see the #2 team in the sport get knocked out in the first round of the NBA playoffs? You’ll never see that in the NBA. And tonight, there’s a chance we’ll see the #1 team in the sport get knocked out.

Well before this series, Scherzer’s record in elimination games: 0-3 with an ERA over 5
I’m not as critical of Roberts as others, but he made some huge mistakes in this series: in G3 with a huge lead, letting Kelly load the bases with nobody warming up in the bullpen (we got out thanks to one of many Kendricks’ blunders, this one a baserunning one) and in G5, not having Maeda starting in the 8th.
Also the starting lineup in G4 was too optimistic: Seager in the 5th spot, followed by 3 rookies and then the pitcher... 5 automatic outs in a row !

162 game regular season is quite a bit. I've said that for awhile. And I still argue that there is no reason why every team can't face off against one another.
