Didn't take Cole any time to distance himself from Houston. Right after the game he's all "I'm not a current Astros employee." Guessing either a Yankee or Angel, if the Angels drop an offer he can't refuse.

The Yankees declined Encarnacion’s 20 mil option. While I didn’t think he was needed he came in handy when Stanton and Judge went down. He was also very well-received in NY and put up decent numbers ...except where it counted: the postseason. 1- for-18 during the ALCS. Farewell parrot walk. He’s almost 37 and 20 million is a lot of dough.

The Yankees may even trade off Stanton as he’s very prone to injury so with those two gone....the lineup will be a lot different.

What a tool. I don't care if he's leaving, you don't act like that right after your team loses the world series. Wearing a Scott Boras cap is just about the douchiest thing you can do.

He's definitely a great teammate, but he's too much of an injury liability at that price. Plus, they gotta make way for Rendon

..I really hope the Yanks re-sign Didi, he's become one of my favorite players on the team.

Yeah....Sir Didi deserves a nice contract as he has been great at short post-Jeter.

But rumors are swirling they won’t re-sign him so I’m preparing myself. I could see Torres moving to short and LaMahieu to second. What a surprise he became. Still feel bad about Troy Tulowitzki. What about Jacoby?

Yea..although it does show where his true loyalties are. I've known a few hall of fame caliber players where fans suggested they be inducted not as members of any specific team, but with $ signs on their caps.

That honor would definitely go to Zack Greinke. He might be the ultimate mercenary.

Congrats to the Nats!

I didn't think I'd live long enough to see a D.C. team win the WS. I grew up in the D.C. area and went to games for Senators franchises 1 and 2. Neither were very good. They lived up to the old joke: School Teacher asks "Where is Washington?" Student answers "First in War, First in Peace; Last in the American League!" The only time I remember having a glimmer of hope was when Ted Williams was coach and they flirted with .500. That lasted until the owner, Bob Short,(clearly a inspiration for Redskins owner Dan Snyder) traded away the talented left side of their infield for over-the-hill pitcher Denny McClain. All downhill after that and the team left town in '72 and became the Rangers. I moved away in '90 and there hadn't been anything but occasional rumors of expansion or relocations bringing a team to Washington for years. I was so happy for the area when I heard that the Expos were heading there. So, long winded history lesson aside-Well Done Nationals!

Might go to the parade tomorrow. Not bad for DC sports. Capitals, Mystics and now the Nats all within 2 yrs.

To be fair, he does get traded a lot (not his fault).

But lest we forget, he gave Kansas City a sweetheart deal with a four-year contract extension in the middle of the 2009 season - the year when he won the Cy Young and really should have won the MVP (if you go by WAR, I don't, but 10.4 WAR in 2009 is way, way up there, see 2009 baseball-reference)

Honestly, I think he became a mercenary because of that deal, and because he stayed with a very bad Kansas City team at the time. Kansas City traded his team-friendly deal to Milwaukee for pieces that won them the World Series later on. I highly doubt he forgot this. I'd be angry too.

There’s a report out saying that the Astros stole signs electronically during the 2017 season. Mike Fiers, a pitcher on the team at the time, has confirmed it. Now MLB is investigating.
