Cody Bellinger with a 3-run homer to tie the game in the 8th inning.

Absolutely brutal. I could taste the 3-0 series lead and the Dodgers rough up Luke Jackson.

I have no idea why you throw Bellinger anything but sliders. He's been in a slump all year.

That Red Sox 9th inning was painful to watch.

This thread needs more love! Pretty awesome to see the Braves advance to the Fall Classic. Hard to believe it's been 22 years.

That series in '96 was quite the showdown with the Big 3...Maddux/Smoltz/Glavin under Bobby Cox. My father was pretty stressed out as a die-hard Yankees fan when they took the first 2 games. Thankfully they took the next 3 in Atlanta forcing game 7 in the Bronx which is the ultimate scenario.

I hope Atlanta takes it all this year. One disappointing thing is the logo this year. Boy is it boring. I guess they had one of the interns design it.

Congrats to the Braves, I hope they win the World Series.

Too bad the *Asterisks* won the A.L. Pennant. Oh well at least 2 of the 3 teams I wanted to lose did (Yankees & Dodgers).

Go Braves! I’m so stoked that they’re back in the WS. I’ve been a fan since the late 80’s and grew up watching them on TBS. Unfortunately the Mariners didn’t make it in this year (managed to lose 2 of 3 games in the last series of the year at home to a crappy team, but I’ve come to expect that from them). Here’s hoping they make it into the playoffs next year.

Same here. Started watching as a kid in the 80's when Florida had no team and the Braves were the only tea on TV. It was painful for many years, then painful for a few decades, just in a different way. Crazy how 20+ years of constant success and great teams produces the same amount of titles as an injury decimated 87 win team, with probably less overall talent on paper than any Braves playoff team over the past three decades.

And yeah... Dusty Baker is literally the worst. As many times as Bobby Cox came up short, you can generally chalk up nearly all his big losses to bad luck or losing to the better team. Dusty Baker has given away more big games with superior teams due to mismanagement than I can count. I believe every team he's managed except Cincy won a title within a decade before or after he left or landed with a team, but none with him/

Has anyone done more to boost their HOF chances in the span of a few years than Freddie Freeman? As recently as 2018, I would have said, "very solid career, but still long-shot to make the Hall." After the past 3 seasons - including an MVP, WS title and two seasons of great postseason play, I think it unlikely he doesn't make it as long as he stays healthy.

Words cannot express just how thrilled I am for Atlanta and the Braves! I have never been happy to be so wrong in my life. Earlier in the season I called the Braves the "Notre Dame" of the MLB. They look like world beaters in the regular season and then wilt in the post-season. I really thought after losing game 5 in Atlanta, they were going to have a hard time winning one of the last two in Houston. However this team is special! The MVP of this team honestly is the front office! The moves they made to build this team after losing Acuna Jr and Soroka were genius! And how fitting that Freddie Freeman hit that dinger at the end and then catch the throw to get the last out. I really hope Atlanta pays this man and keeps him so he can finish his career out in Atlanta.

So happy for the Braves. After all those years of disappointments and having the aura of perennial playoff chokers hanging above their head, they finally live up to their potential and win the big one, and it couldn't come against a more deserving team, bunch of f*cking cheaters. In fact, I don't know what makes me happier: that the Braves (finally) won or the Asterisks didn't.

Aw what the hell, I'll gladly take both.

I can see the "Notre Dame of MLB" label for a lot of Braves teams in the 90's-00's, who won 95+ most seasons, flaming out in the playoffs. That's fair, as much as I hate to admit it. But between 2020-2021, it's more the opposite - they have fairly average to mediocre regular season teams, only to massively overachieve in the playoffs. Not just this season, but 2020 was a major overachievement. I fully expected, as most probably did, that that Braves team to lose to the Dodgers in 4 or 5 games, not take a 3-1 lead, ultimately losing by a hair in 7.

As much as I loved Schuerholz as GM all those years, I think Alex Anthopoulos may turn out to be even better. Fact of the matter is the last decade of Schuerholz (as GM then President) was largely a disaster. When Anthopoulos took over as GM, the Braves hadn't won a playoff series in 15 years, made the playoffs just 3 times in 11 years, and lost 90+ the previous two seasons. Since he took over, the Braves had only one poor season (his first), have made the playoffs all 4 seasons since, won 5 playoff series, made 2 NLCS, won 1 World Series. He may well be the best GM in baseball right now. Schuerholz always benefitted from Ted Turner's deep pockets keeping the Braves at or near the top of MLB in payroll. Anthopoulos is getting more accomplished with a team payrolls consistently at or near the league median (~15th of 30 teams).

From a division rival Mets fan, congrats to the Braves for beating those cheating SOB's!!

For the team and their fans I hope they decide to re-sign Freddie Freeman.

Finally, I loved the fans booing Rob Manfred as he was presenting the World Series Trophy!!

Former Mets pitcher Pedro Feliciano passed away on Sunday night in his sleep. He was only 45.

Your dead to me Baseball!

Amazing candy asses who have 400 million dollar contracts and teams that all get free money with rev sharing and tv contracts that regardless of the sports declining popularity maintain huge dollar amounts can decide the best course of action is to strike.

I think these greedy pukes do not understand the temperment of today's america and if they think this will be well received or forgotten about they are wrong! That goes for both sides here, both are fighting for more money of course and imo both sides can go to hell!

While I've always been for a salary cap, baseball's biggest problem is the lack of a salary floor. Too many teams claim poverty while raking in big sums from revenue sharing. Funny how the Pirates always claim poverty and love being labeled "small market" to excuse their lack of spending, yet you never hear the Steelers claiming they are a small market team. Too many of these franchise owners are fine with spending no money, while losing 90+ every year.
