It really is. So glad I didn't tune in for the game last night. Yanks play the Rays 5 more times before the end of the season and they're 5 games back and considering how they obliterated the Yankees offense last night..they'll probably win the division.

Benintendi and Rizzo are both out.

Only reason to watch: The Judge Show and all the prospects getting called up with a shot at the big leagues.

The Orioles are going to be very dangerous next year, and possibly this year if they can pick up the third wild card from Toronto or Seattle. The O's remind me of the Kansas City Royals in 2014, the year before they won it all.

All of their rookies from their farm system seem to be hitting the roster this year and next year, and all of them are playing like they don't want to be sent back down, ever.

I was expecting a fall from the Yankees after the first half because they weren't that far improved from last year's team. But if they end up losing the division, that's a failure not a fall.

Aussie here and a massive Yankees fan and saw many games when I lived in the States. I have the MLB app and cast games to my TV. I'm so fricking furious that a 13 game lead is now only 5 and why on earth do they keep on playing Donaldson, Hicks and Torres. Also IKF is no short stop. I'm so pissed off at the amount of games we have lost since the All-Star game.

It is truly remarkable and I feel your pain as well. Donaldson sucks and it's crystal clear why him and IKF keep getting playing time over the recent call ups: that 50m trade was the worst move by a GM this season and it's hard to sit them.

Really sucks about Hicks. This is not his year and Torres is not really liked at all these days haha. Just glad to see Judge getting closer to history. He is the only hope for fans at this point.

Yeah I'm enjoying Judge possibly about to make history and I mean in both leagues not just the American as the 3 in the National league (Sosa, McGuire and Bonds) achieved their records on performance enhancing drugs. As far as I'm concerned Maris still holds the record for home runs and considering he's my favourite player ever I don't want to see the record broken but if it does get broken I'm glad it's by another Yankee and someone as respectable as Judge.

I intentionally missed last Saturday's game (which they lost). I started watching again last Sunday. If they got swept this weekend, I would have definitely given up on them. I still don't have confidence in them.

At least the Yanks have stabilized things and are in good shape to win the division. Still don't trust them in the playoffs. They're going to have to show me that they can hit good pitching. Plus, I don't have any faith in Cole. We'll see what happens. Only thing I'm sure of is that they don't have a prayer in the world against the Astros if they face them.

My feelings exactly. They've entered a nice rebound period and taking those 2 games against Boston felt great but my goodness did Boston play like garbage!

I feel like the Yanks will choke in the playoffs. No faith in Cole either. He's not the same pitcher he used to be after the spider tack ban. Saw a guy wearing a Cole jersey at Costco yesterday and I wanted to say something but didn't. Not too many fans repping his jersey out in the wild.

Wow, so was I alone last night spamming every channel I could think of trying to find the Sox - Yankee game only to find out they paywalled it with Apple tv?

I mean f'ing seriously, MLB is now putting their games behind a paywall? I talked to my father who has the MLB package so he can watch his Sox in Florida, and the game was even blocked off of that!

I think I am pretty in tune with the sports world, even listen to Boomer and Gio every morning I wake up and while they spent considerable time on the prime football games, they said absolutely nothing about this game being excluded from normal viewing. Did you Bronx fans at least get to see it on Yes, because Nesn was showing the damn woo sox.

I feel your pain...I truly do. The only way to watch the game last night was on AppleTV+. Not even the Yes Network aired it. The slightly good news was that Apple made the game free for everyone but not everyone has the capability to stream, etc. The Apple announcers are freaking atrocious as well and super annoying.

It's really unfortunate but sadly the future of sports. Looking more and more likely that I'll be able to cancel my Directv subscription because Yes will end up charging for access to games as well following everyone else.

The Yankees even ended up on Peacock for one game over the summer. Everything is getting licensed out and exclusively streaming on multiple platforms/networks. The game now is to have them all or else you miss out!

If it gets us to a true a la carte future of sports where I can just buy a season pass and stream it for about the cost of what the cable company receives from the MLB team? I'm all for it.

It's looking likely that a la carte sports cable won't happen due to all of the streaming packages for certain games, but for the majority of the games I'd gladly pay for just my team.

There are a multitude of problems though - namely, most sports fans don't just watch one sport, they watch 2 or 3 major sports + highlight channels. There's almost no way you can do that unless if you signed up for a bunch of teams and MLB/NFL Network and ESPN and TNT/TBS for the NBA playoffs or March madness, cable would be way cheaper.

I think I've fallen asleep during the Apple games twice now because of their announcers. (Apple TV+ has free games from time to time)

The MLB app blocked me here in Australia as well for the Yankees/Boston game but for some reason it was on my cable (Foxtel) even though it wasn't advertised in the sports guide beforehand. And oh man was I agree about the Apple TV commentary. So damn amateur. Female commentator (Katie Nolan) asked Roger Maris' son how the family and Roger would feel if Judge broke the record? Roger Maris has been dead for 37 years FFS! She also asked Maris'" son "so when your father broke Babe Ruth's record you were three, what are your memories of that day?". How can a 64 year old man remember that day in detail when he was only 3? They also constantly called people by the wrong name (Boone called Judge, Stanton called Hicks). Absolutely no research done whatsoever before the game and it was so bad there were several threads on Twitter ridiculing them. I have never heard of these Apple TV commentators before and my god I never want to hear from them again.

No research at all and way underqualified for the position. I'll usually pop into the Reddit live game feed and it's a zoo in there but hilarious comments making fun of the AppleTV folk. I missed that question about Maris' son being at the game when he was 3 and what he remembered

During past Apple TV broadcasts, I will mute the TV and turn on the MLB SiriusXM broadcast and listen to John Sterling the old school way.

Really hoping Judge can pull it off tonight and get 61. This has gone on for too long but it really shows just how hard it is to hit a homer. Roger Maris' son is sitting next to Judge's mom again tonight. It melts your heart!

Judge says the pressure isn't getting to him, and he does look very calm and collected, but the amount of eyes on him with every at bat is insane. Games getting national coverage, etc..Hard to get that stuff out your mind completely, especially with everyone taking pictures with every at bat as well. Plus, a lot of pitchers are of course doing their best to not throw one down the middle. Judge is still getting his hits, and walks, which I'm glad for.

I actually care more about his batting average than the homeruns as I would love for him to win the triple crown. Judge is an amazing team player, and just wants to produce and win, so while I'm sure he'd love to have the AL record, his priority is always the team.

You're absolutely right that while he's not hitting home runs...his average is still going up because he's been getting on base. It definitely helps for that Triple Crown which I hope he gets. Judge was seen wearing this shirt when they landed in Toronto.

A hint that perhaps he plans to work out a deal in the off season to stay. I would love to see him finish his career in pinstripes. He is the most beloved Yankee right now.

Nice to see the Yanks clinch their division last night. I feel they're doomed in the post season though with their pitching.

I predict Judge will be walked a few times tonight without a hr. The Yanks fly back to NY tomorrow, so I'd much rather see him tie the record while at home. It just sucks he's going through this drought.
