Clutch homer by Bryce Harper sends the Phillies to the World Series.

The Nats look dumber and dumber each day for not resigning Harper. Now the franchise is in freefall with no sign of recovery.

Nationals already have shown that they can win a championship without Harper. Even if they re-signed him, they'd still have lost Soto, Rendon, Scherzer, and others, and you can't win a championship with just Harper.. To your point, they couldn't even afford to re-sign Harper. They offered him a 10 year, $300 million deal, which was the biggest free agent offer in sports history at the time, but Harper and his agent Scott Boras turned it down. Apparently, $100 million of it was deferred payments, that he wouldn't get until he was like 60 years old. Nats are already on the line for deferred payments for Scherzer and others. They simply can't afford to make huge deals without deferred payments like what the Phillies were able to offer him.

Judge making the final out of Game 4 was rather poetic, wasn't it?

Judge had a great year but I doubt he's ever hitting 50 homers again, much less 60. Once you sign him for $300 million plus, you have to baby him to prevent injuries on that huge frame.

That is my biggest concern. He's a great ballplayer but SUPER injury prone with his body type. He'll get his big paycheck but it will be like walking on pins and needles for the team he signs with.

Fall Classic logo is a decent improvement over the one from last year.

Strange as it is to say, but bring back Joe Buck. He's better than Joe Davis. Although I'm ok with John Smoltz over old school Tim McCarver.

I like when games are on Fox because my local is an ATSC 3.0 NextGen Tuner broadcast station. 1080p + Dolby Audio for free.

I prefer Joe Davis. I've had enough Buck to satisfy me for a lifetime.

Wild game 1, never expected they'd come back down 5-0. Verlander is used to getting those marginal strike calls on the edges of the plate but he should have known up 5-0 the ump would tighten the zone for the Phillies. His slider looked lifeless.

I was happy seeing Verlander finally get his World Series win. He grinded through five innings without his A+ stuff.

At 39, Verlander is impressive. He should win the Cy Young this year.

As wild as this sounds,
Astros can let a Cy Young winner like Verlander, their GM, and pitching Scout walk, and they'll still be in contention for another World Series run next season.

You could have said the same about the Dodgers at the start of the 2022 season and by the end of the playoffs they were down to a rusty Kershaw and Urias as their only reliable frontline starters.

You can never have too much pitching in today's MLB.
