I'd rather have Fried than not have him, but I'm not exactly in tears over him leaving. The guy is consistently really good in the regular season, complete trash in the postseason. Similar in a way to Aaron Judge. The guy will provide the Yankees with a really solid #3'ish starting pitcher to rack up a lot of regular season wins, but his postseason ERA is literally 2 points higher (over 5.00) than regular season. And I'm unsure how helpful that really is given the Yankees need big time postseason players, not regular season.

$27 million a year for Fried is way too much in my opinion. No way that'll be worth it. This is basically the post-Soto effect, where Yanks desperately try to grab what they can, and overpay for it.

Hell even Bobby Bonilla's contract will finally be over by the time this guy collects his last check from the Mets. It is hard to defend this picture though, i know the camera adds a few pounds but not a clear beer gut.

Man looks 26 going on 36 in this pic, i have to question if his quoted age is the truth. 26 year olds, even ones that drink a 12 pack a day dont have a gut like this and this guy is a pro athlete! His face everything screams mid 30 year old in this picture, yankee fans especially after the news of suites and nonsense like that deserve to have some fun with this one imo.

This a tuff one to swallow watching him play was always fun. RIP Rickey!

RIP Rickey, certainly a one of a kind legend. Because no Rickey post would ever be complete without some "Rickey Being Rickey" stories, here are some of my favorites. Granted, not 100% sure all are true or accurate. Hard to separate myth from reality with this guy.

For his entire career, before every single game Rickey would stand butt-naked in front of his locker and chant, "Rickey is the best" over and over for several minutes.

One time, while he was on the Yankees, Rickey bragged about how awesome his new condo was because apparently it had a view of the "Entire State Building."

Rickey once asked a teammate how long it would take to drive to the Dominican Republic, which he thought was a clothing store.

Rickey Henderson once took his first $1 million bonus check and framed it for his wall, rather than cashing it, setting off a panic within the Oakland Athletics accounting department.

This one happened in Seattle. Rickey struck out and as the next batter was walking past him, he heard Henderson say, “Don’t worry, Rickey, you’re still the best.”

Moments after breaking Lou Brock’s stolen base record, Henderson told the crowd – with Brock mere feet next to him – “Lou Brock was a great base stealer, but today, I am the greatest of all-time.”

Rickey once left a voicemail to a MLB GM, saying, "This is Rickey calling on behalf of Rickey. Rickey wants to play baseball."

San Diego GM Kevin Towers was trying to contact Rickey at a nearby hotel. He knew Henderson always used fake names to avoid the press, fans, etc. He was trying to think like Rickey and after several attempts; he was able to get Henderson on the phone. Rickey had checked in under Richard Pryor.

Rickey was asked if he had the Garth Brooks album with Friends in Low Places and Henderson said, “Rickey doesn’t have albums. Rickey has CDs.”

A Henderson story I think was debunked was when he was with the Mariners and was surprised that John Olerud wore a batting helmet when fielding, and he told Olerud that he knew someone on the Mets who did the same thing.
