Baseball in the end imo is the one with egg on its face, they did him dirty at the all-star game in 99 and continued their idiotic stance until of course he passes away! IMO too little too late for the spineless commissioner who had ample time to make this right with Rose while the man was still alive! Too bad Pete couldn't have just blamed his interpreter for his gambling addiction like some other guys I guess can....

The Japanese interpreter plead guilty and is now serving time.

Hope this helps.

Ohtani had NOTHING to do with the gambling. That was proven in the investigation.

Rose however was guilty and he admitted to not only betting as a player but manager as well. He not only bet for but against his team. Its an integrity issue no matter how good of a player he was. If it had just been gambling with nothing that could affect the outcomes of the games he played and managed in I would agree with the stance of remove the ban but this is not the case.

The Black Sox are an entirely different issue especially Shoeless Joe. Joe played at MVP level and it was never proven he took a dime or even took any of those meetings he was lumped in with the others.

Nothing was proven except that Ohtani's story changed mid investigation, the guy was using his interpreter to place bets and it's sad that you are not smart enough to see that! His interpreter placed over 19,000 wagers equaling over 180 million worth of bets, but says he stole only 17 million, so were the F#@# did the other 160+ million come from, fantasy land?

Also he was suppose to surrender and go to jail on Monday but for some unknown reason because they sealed the document his surrender date has been postponed and no future date has been announced nor any reason given for postponing it. How totally not shocking to me....

I can find no articles of your claims from reputable sources. However here you go my sources

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/s...rpreters-bets/

Note the headline MLB clears Ohtani

Also I saw no articles on Mizuhara not reporting for jail so I would need to see to adjust my research. I would especially be interested in the financials.

Not hard to find at all, do you really think though the idiots in charge of MLB would let it out that Ohtani was betting for years on sports, in a state were it is illegal and there for subject to deportation as his visa would be terminated for committing a felony.

Way too much money and way to much overall to lose on all sides is why this was swept under the rug as best as possible. I have read that he was suppose to start his term this Monday again, whether he is in jail that is unknown at this time. And he was already given a far reduced sentence with a 4 year 9 month term when he could of received over 30 years in prison for his alleged crimes.

Quote:
His case was part of a larger investigation into illegal sports bookmaking organizations in the Southland. His winning bets totaled more than $142,256,000 and his losing bets about $182,935,000. Total losses amounted to more than $40,679,000, the affidavit said.
These numbers do not match up with the story we have been told imo. What does match up is Ohtani using his interpreter to place these wagers though, or else I would like to know were these other millions came from for him to place these wagers

Ah good to see the clarification. I knew in March that Ohtani interpreter had his report time changed in March I thought it had changed again today with your post. As for the figures this is the first time I've seen them. If true then yes you are correct the numbers do not add up. It would be fuzzy math at its best. If they are accurate yes I agree with you it does not match and does seem like a cover up.

NBC making a bid for ESPN's MLB games after ESPN walks away from negotiations. Including playoff games (!) and Sunday Night Baseball.

That's another feather in the cap for NBC after TNT/TBS/Max walked away from the NBA. Network TV is going to have its day in the sun for sports, like it should be without having to pay for some silly $100 a month cable package.

I'm not even sure why ESPN is going to try charging $30 monthly for a standalone internet package, don't even bother at this point.

I'd love to see everyone dump ESPN

Did NBC specifically state all their content will be on their regular main network, or will they use Peacock and NBC sports channels locked behind paywalls?

WSJ article (all of the news articles on this are quoting the WSJ, and the WSJ is quoting "sources") said that NBC will air MLB games on Peacock when NBC is airing other sports.

It sounds like MLB probably won't be priority on NFL Sunday Nights, for good reason, and NBA game nights. Also sounds like these would be on the NBC main network, similar to the NBA games.

Sounds like ESPN really lowballed the MLB. They were paying $550 million per year, and tried to start negotiations at $200 million per year.

Probably because baseball ratings are struggle city right now, imo the MLB doesn't deserve a great offer. I don't blame Espn for punting it as I doubt it is really moving any needles for them over the last few years ratings wise. I know myself I can count on one hand the amount of Espn Sunday night games i have watched over the last half decade.
